If you visit any major beach "tourist" area, youre going to be familiar with Wings. Its very similar to most every other chain-beach store (Pacific, Eagles, Beach Mart, etc.). Our family stays in St. Pete for a week every year and this year, like every other, we go to Wings to pick up a few items for our stay. However, this year, Wings has added a "henna" tattoo artist (not a part of WIngs, but given space just inside their front door). Our two children (age 9 and 6) wanted temporary tattoos, and so for fun, we let them get one each on their arms. At the end of the week, our 6-year-olds tattoo had worn completely off, but the "henna" artist assured us that we could get it "refreshed" before we left, if that were to happen. We went back to Wings, and had his arm re-inked. What happened over the next hours and days was shocking! Apparently, the "henna" used at Wings is not real henna at all, but is instead a mixture using PPD (a chemical used in making hair-dye and currently outlawed for use on skin in Canada, but not in the US). Before long, a red rash began to show underneath the ink site, and it ultimately covered the entire arm where the tattoo had been applied. It was red and blistered and threatened to severely and permanently scar his 6-year-old arm into the form of the tattoo he had chosen. This almost cost us a trip to the emergency room in addition to the $15 we spent on the tattoo! Additionally, it could have cost our son a life-long scar, not to mention the pain and discomfort he dealt with for a number of days. While Wings certainly has the right to have the temporary tattoo stand in their store, I highly advise parents to do their research before they allow their children to have one. Additionally, it seems that someone more litageous than I might take advantage of the situation in court. Perhaps some warnings or releases of liability are in order for their business as well.

I wish that zero stars was an option. Their fitting room attendant (blonde, short hair, mid 50s, maybe a REALLY rough mid 40s) seemed to be particularly unhappy with her job today and was incredibly rude. As if its the consumers fault that she is working at an entry level retail job well into middle age. Im a shopper and could have easily spent a significant amount of money out of pure impulse, considering that the store itself had pretty cool stuff. Nothing unique but still pretty cool swim wear and beach novelty items. One bad employee caused me (and probably plenty of others) to take my business to one of the THOUSAND other little surf shops in that little section of St pete. Get it together wings. I put back roughly 300 bucks worth of stuff today. Imagine in monetary terms exactly the cost of letting your employees scowl your business away.

If I could give them a zero I would. My boyfriend and I bought over $100 worth of items from them. When we got back to the hotel we noticed a shot glass was missing (present for my brother). When we went back to the store the MANAGER told me the particular shot glass I was missing was not on the recipt. I told him thats because they scanned one shot glass as 3 ( the 10 for 3 deal). He proceeded to be extremely rude. The man who packed my shot glasses was there and told the man that it was that glass and that he had messed up. Well the manager still blamed ME and proceeded to be rude again. He FINALLY agreed to give me a different shot glass as a "favor" as if being nice! They left it out in the first place!!! Do not buy from them. The manger does not deserve your patronage.

They have a great selection and great prices. Great customer service no complaints. But Im writing this review because one of the managers James went completely above and beyond. I bought a $1.99 cheap little fake sea shell bracelet for my daughter. She lost the bracelet and of course after spending $5,000 on a vacation all she cared about was this sea shell bracelet. I tried to order it from Wings but James would not take my money. He paid for the shipping himself too. My girlfriend is from St Pete so we go there to see her family every year and Ill make sure to always give Wings my business. Thank you again James.

I called the manager of the store today to ask why his store dumped a bunch of hermit crabs out of their back door to die in the hot sun. His explanation.. " that was 2 months ago....why you calling now"? I told him I just learned about it today and I wanted to know why that happened . He said "what you gonna do about it"? My response : make sure I never go to your store.

I love this place!! Beach+surprise thunderstorm= wings!! They had everything we needed. My swimsiut was cheap but i get compliments all the time. I love my swimsuit. We loved the lazy day clothes. They had alot of knick knacks and gifts. I was able to get everybody something. WARNING: CLOTHES SHRINK. GET A BIGGER SIZE. Go here! Just do it!

Visited while on vacation from the UK in September, everything you could want for the Beach. Loved the display of Shirts towels, but ended up getting some beach footwear, which was very reasonably priced, and will be coming back with me next year.

The best place for St. Pete. Beach gifts and mementos. Loads of t-shirts, towels, Boogie Boards, sandals, swimsuits, sunscreens, hats and touristy gizmos of all shapes and sizes.
