This USED TO be one of the places I frequently shopped at. The prices are reasonable and they usually have a great selection of merchandise. Never had any issues with the employees, until today. I was doing some Christmas shopping and I couldnt find anything exceptional here. I was going to buy an air freshener thing, but decided to put it back as it was something I could get anywhere else, for the same price. As I was about to leave the store an employee (who has been following me all around the store) accused me of shoplifting. She wasnt discrete about it either. I do understand she is doing her job, and I am aware that Family Dollar stores have been a target for theft in this town. I understand that. But as someone who also works in a store that deals with similar incidents- I also know that there are better ways to go about it if you suspect one of shop lifting. She did not have to follow me around like I was a criminal and she did not have to be so damn rude. I complied with her request because I would never shoplift, and I knew I was innocent, but I shouldnt have to deal with that, just because I decided to put my items back and leave. Plenty of people do that, and I highly doubt I was the only one. It was a very negative experience and I will no longer be shopping at that store. Especially with the new Dollar General that opened up, that offers more of a selection, better sales, and friendlier employees who dont treat you like a criminal because you decided not to buy an item.
