This is one of my bi-weekly shopping stop. If you are a non-Vietnamese, understand that this is not an "Asian" market, but more of a Vietnamese market to be more specific. This market provides almost all the ingredients youll need to cook traditional Vietnamese cuisines. The fresh live tilapias have a swampy smell and taste... something Im still not used to since moving to Florida...but its not like this all the time. Other markets have live tilapias too, but theirs dont have the swampy smell. I understand thats not under the owners control...but more where the fish were caught. I wish this store sells rau tien vua (mountain jelly vegetable). I only know one market in town that sells it. I have every herbs and vegetables you need for your Vietnamese homemade cooking. I only came twice that seems like all their herbs were sold out and not yet replenished in time which can be a disappointment after 40 minutes of driving to get here. I learned not to go the day before the fresh herbs arrive. My favorite part about this Tien Hung Market is their Vietnamese snacks. If you love taro, you must try their taro cake. They are the only market in town I know that makes it. I tried to googled for a recipe but there wasnt a recipe for it either. Their snacks always look fresh and they do try to put the date that they make it if not the expiration date. Some other markets make a bunch of Vietnamese snacks and desserts but never put an expiration date or when they bake/make it...I got sick several times buying snacks elsewhere. Of all places that bakes/makes Vietnamese snacks in the Orlando area, I only trust Tien Hung Market for that. Their che and sticky rice are super duper sugary. Im not a fan of super sweet stuff, but if you are, this is it. Fish is fresh if you go on the right days when their caught fish shipment arrives. Just like any other Asian markets, theres days fish selection will be fresh and days fish selection will be not so attractive. I wish they have a label for all the types of fish they sell. I like eating the cut fish parts in the big bowls below the shrimp display but the man working there doesnt know what kind of fish those are called. Shrimp is super expensive here for some reason. The cost is almost doubled compared to 1st Spring Market for some reason.

make sure you shop for food at least an hour before they close because when I went in last July 5 at 8PM, the old lady behind the Vietnamese sandwich counter refused to serve me because she states they were closing! UPDATE: July 24, 2014-I opened my email and under "add to my circles" the owner/representing of Tien Hung Market Oriental food got so angry at me and gave me a note "loser". Another bad thing I experience with Tien Hung market is when I bought their bananas. It was just a regular banana, not the Asian ones. The cashier whose a male in his 50s-60s who always coughs and never covers his mouth charged me .99 cents per pound. When I got back to my car, I sent my Asian friend inside to buy the same bananas and she was charged .59/cents per pound. If the person from Tien Hung who sent me a "loser" note send me anymore negative remarks, I will file a complaint to the better business bureau. Evidence(the email and I took photo). I also want to let you know that I work for the government and I can guarantee you that a lot of your workers are illegal immigrants...

The cashier was too busy to look at me (the short asian guy). I felt like I was bothering him when I was trying to pay for my things. He was busy playing with his phone before he actually rang up my items, didnt even look up or tell me how much my items were. I handed him the cash, then he said thank you while he gave me my change, mind you he hasnt looked at me during this whole transaction.
