Ferret Lover

As evident of my Google username, Im a ferret lover, but I also love other animals. :) To make my post short and sweet rather than my usual very long posts on reviews, I just wanted to say this Pet Supermarket may be the one and only, if not also have other Pet Supermarkets, getting their adoptable cats from the pound rather than a mill or a breeder, which to me is extremely wonderful and inspiring. :) I came to this Pet Supermarket when me and my husband were looking for a cat and we found out this one had cats, and even better, that the cats were "on sale" for 2 cats for 10 bucks, with the added bonus that theirs are from the pound rather than from an awful mill or a breeder....and since pounds are super overpopulated with poor animals and most of the time when someone "shops" for an animal its at a pet store rather than The Humane Society or city pounds. It makes sense that the pound would use this knowing that people usually go to pet stores rather than their place PLUS it gets lots of previously waiting to be euthanized animals a chance at a new life with a new, loving family. Anyway.... We found a beautiful black cat at this location, she was already microchipped, we got her for really, really cheap, the employees at this location were pretty quick in getting her the box to take her home, our forms to sign her and whatnot. The place was a little packed with people looking at cats I suppose because of their "prices". It gets four instead of five because of the packing of the people but mainly because it wasnt super, super clean like Ive seen other Pet Supermarkets and places like Petco and PetSmart and I even saw a few palmetto bugs in the store and that was more terrifying than I can explain cause I HATE those and Im pretty sure more than just I hate them. They also had traditional rodent traps in their back door warehouses that were left open. I just thought that maybe theyd have a more humane way of catching rodents for a pet store or get a bigger way to handle them rather than a few mouse traps in their back warehouse. -A customer

Upon entering the store I was meet with the distinct smell of small animal urine. I didnt think much of it seeing as it was the end of the day until I was also confronted with a repulsive lack of concern regarding two large fish violently fighting. I brought the situation to an employees attention, the boy shrugged it off starting that "they have been at it all day" and that he would "check back to see if they were bleeding later"... The fish were doing visible damage to each other and thrashing about hard enough in their aquarium hard enough to splash water out of the tank. I was concerned by this responce but granbed what I had come for and went to check out. At checkout I tried to bring my concerns to the manager (Robert) and his response was in essence "they do that" without eye contact or making any effort to acknowledge my concern. And thats when decided I was not going to make my purchase at this store and left. I called and emailed their corporate office and received no response back within several buisness days. I will not be returning. Id encourage you to find another cleaner more in-touch store.

Bought a Large corner perch for a Macaw parrot 2 weeks ago and paid $26. I called this morning to see if they had more in and was told "Yes". I confirmed that the price was the same, $26. I was told yes. After work (8:30pm) I called again to confirm the perch was still there and was told "yes and same price". I drove 30 min to this location (East Hollywood) only to find out that the price has gone up to $35. The manager Robert just stared and gave me a blank look. He apologized but wouldnt honor the old price or the one I had confirmed earlier this morning. Also, 2 weeks ago, I had purchased a bag of Zupreem pellets. It was was filled with bugs. Looked like ants but different. The manager (different one) gave me a store credit for it. I wont be coming back to this store. The only 2 times Ive been here, there have been issues. Only reason I drove all this way is because the one off of Hollywood Blvd and 441 burned down.

They do not properly care for the hermit crabs they sell. Unhealthy painted shells(unhealthy for the crab), no sand for them to bury, no salt water they need to bathe (they need both regular and salt water) and no hidding caves for them to feel safe in. Plus the sponge they had inside looked like wet muck. Someone should teach these folks how to properly care for hermit crabs!.The assistant manager had no idea how to properly care for them and looked like a deer in headlights every time i asked a question. Shame on them! I went to Petco and they had a great habitat for their hermies.

I go to this Pet Supermarket 3 or 4 times a month. Everytime I go there this older looking spanish speaking guy gives me a hard time. They had employees that had a personality about a year ago. Nice girls and guys. Seems they are all gone. Now most of them dont smile, joke or even say anything. After getting my slip I said to the guy, "thank you" the dummy just staired at me. I was trying to get him to say thank you to me. I guess his mommy didnt teach him that yet. What is wrong with the management?

I went to Pet Supermarket last week for the first time because I needed a new dog food. They were great and were very knowledgeable. They helped me pick a new food and explained why it would help my dogs pick eating and food allergies. My dog now loves the food and my life is far easier. I plan to go back for all my dog food and dog supplies there. Great people and a great store!

Horrible customer service. I purchased crickets for my bearded dragon when I arrived home they had all died. When I called the store, the manager said theres nothing she could do, and hung up on me.

Great staff. Ive been coming to this location for quite some time. Theyre great! Its one of their bigger stores
