Prices are okay if you live close by and do not wish to shop elsewhere for slightly cheaper items. The only disappointing thing about shopping at safeway is that sometimes, the milk & bread sold there will expired within 2 days and they have not removed it. I know places that will remove their milk 3 days before it expires, and bread, 7 days before expiration. Which isnt too big of deal, compared to their fresh produce section. Ive gone there to shop for some fresh fruits, to find blueberries and strawberries with molds on them. The peaches had little fruit flies swarming them (4 out of 5 times Ive gone there for peaches). And the bean sprouts had been soaked in water (packaging) for so long it is no longer white in color on the stalks, but translucent and soggy. Also, Ive found rotten spinach in the package when looking to buy some. The meat section, at times (i.e. 50% of the times I visited), will carry bad meat; looking "blackened", as though starting to rot away. Regardless, on the whole, this Safeway is very clean. No spills on the floor or under the milk display. Products not covered in dust as seen in other similar stores. No blood dripping from the meat packaging. The selection: adequate. The staff: friendly. No long waits at the checkout. The carts are cleaned. Parking lot, not too dirty. A great place for a quick grab of something you forgot on your grocery list.

The store itself is great. Clean, good selection of items. I shop here often because I get water here and they have one of two self refill stations in Dover. My only complaint is the customer service by phone is always unpleasant, with associates making little to no effort to address a question. Mostly I call to save myself from dragging kids and water jugs to the store unnecessarily. I understand that they have no control over maintanance of a machine aside from reporting it, but they could at least try to be decent on the phone instead of sounding like you interrupted their favorite TV show and said no without even bothering to find out. A good representative would at least try to let me know when it is expected to be fixed. Ive been hung up on more than once, so this isnt a "bad day" incident. If there was another place to get water that was in the area Id likely go there instead. It doesnt take away from the store and its products at all, but dont bother calling if you need to know anything.

Lines are always long. Ive been at night on multiple occasions and they will have one line open and no one at the Service counter will check you out. I went at almost 10p to get ice cream and when I asked to get rung up at the Service counter they said the till was already closed for the night so I had to wait in the long line with the rest of the customers. Ive worked in the Grocery store business for several years as a Front End Manager and in the Cash Room years ago and this is not the procedure for the front. Customer service support at this location needs a complete makeover as there is none. This location will.not get a dime from me as I left the ice cream on the counter and walked out. Im never desperate to give my money where Im not appreciated.

I choose this store to grocery shop at because i like how the justforU rewards gives you great coupons and suggested items. But every time I go, day or night, they are always out of most of the things I go for and it makes me sad to see Safeway doing things like Walmart, they never restock on time either, and its always the overnight crew that complains the most about doing their job, when I go at night shelves are partially empty and you can never find someone who works there and when you do they lie about not having anything stocked in the back... However, its my favorite place and they put the fun in dysFUNctional

I think a lot of the prices are good. Plus I really like when they have the 1.99 cereal boxes. Plus the other day something didnt ring up right and I got my money back and kept the product. I was hesitant to take it cause I wasnt for sure he understood me. I was just expecting the difference. He said anything that rings up wrong and if its under$5.00 you get your whole money back. Thats whats up

This store has improved greatly over the last year. The produce is still very expensive unless on sale, but everything else is about the right price. $5 Dollar Friday deals are great and the bakery and deli have excellent choices. The store is open 24 hours so you can always find what you need.

Iam very dissapointed,i just left this store had a bag of shrimp of which i was forced to leave at the register just because they could not match its price after they made me wait in the line for 5 mins,so why was it on the shelves anyway?poor customer service i got today in your store

If you are shopping for gluten-free items, Safeway is the best choice in Dover. They have a great selection of frozen items as well as other gluten-free items throughout the store. The produce, meat and fish selections are pretty good too compared to the other stores in Dover.

Great selection of food. The problem is they only keep abou 2 or 3 cash registers open, so the lines are always long...think walmart on Fridays. I would rather go to another store and not waste my time having to wait in line for 20 minutes just to get a few items.

This is a typical Safeway, average quality goods. Looks like they do a good job on the prepared foods, Ive never tried any, though. The store is clean and well organized.

Not many people help on the store. Live here on the area for 12 years never good customer service. They need to get training for customer service.
