I was one of the few kids that came up in the 90s that didnt get inked or pierced. Always appreciated good body art, but personally never had any reason for the permanency - and not to mention Im completely freaked out by needles. However after the untimely, heartbreaking death of my dog from lymphoma, I knew I wanted to get a piece to memorialize him. My girlfriend surprised me with a gift certificate to Johns shop, so I whipped together some designs using a cast of my dogs paw. Called John, a very cool, friendly guy, and arranged a consult at his meticulously spotless and comfortable studio over in Research Drive. He dug what I was going for and a week later it was go time. Three things you have know about Johnny, his work and why hes the best in the area, 1 - hes mind-blowingly fast, 2 - hes very, very gentle with his gun (this coming from a guy that had to be bear-hugged as a kid to get a needle at the doctors office), 3 - and most importantly, his work is super-precise, clean and detailed. What I showed him is *exactly* what I got on me over the course of two sessions. He doesnt charge by hour, he charges by the design because hes just that fast and agile. All in it was maybe 2 hours and change in the chair, and for work this clean and detailed its worth every (reasonably charged) penny. I love my tattoo, and love Johnnys work. Both are bad ass, just like my dog was in better times.

Ive been going to John for about two years. His work has always been, clean, custom and exceeded my expectations. Everywhere I go I get daily compliments on all of my pieces. He has done approximately 9 tattoos on my body, both feet, hand, wrists, ribs, lower back, writing on my upper back & behind my ear (2 of which were cover-ups). I have also been featured in Inked Magazine as well as done tattoo modeling - almost all was his work. Since then I have moved and gone to other world renowned artists that have ALL complimented me on his work. His shop may be small, but I think that makes for a good feeling. Its personal and custom. Its not your pick-it and stick-it flash art tat shop on every corner of LA or NYC. Plus its extremely clean - he re-uses nothing, everything is fresh from the wrapper. Ive referred about 30 overly satisfied customers to him. Youd be stupid to go anywhere else in the area.

I cant say enough good things about John at Full Throttle! So far Ive had 3 beautiful pieces done by him.. his line work especially is so impressive. It was the experience that really blew me away though. The shop is small and felt very private and personal, which I loved, and it was insanely clean. Johns got no books of pre-drawn tattoos, so each of his pieces is custom. He spent a lot of time looking at my references and working with me to draw the perfect tattoo and pick the best size and placement. I felt like he understood exactly what I wanted. He was so personable and great to chat with while he was tattooing me.. it made the time fly by. I feel like he goes out of his way to make sure that every single one of his clients feels comfortable and has fun. After the great experiences Ive had at Full Throttle, I wouldnt go trust anyone else with my tattoos and I cant wait to go back for more!

Last year myself and my best friend went to see John about designing a winged wheel tattoo that would commemorate a job we both had. John couldnt be nicer, he worked with us, gave us his input and drew up a version of what we suggested that blew us both away! My friend got his on his ankle and I got mine on my on my shoulder blade. The detail was amazing, the font was outstanding, it had a classic look to it and was developed by John. After John finished my tattoo, he went ahead and touched up an old tattoo that hadnt healed right.Johns shop was as clean as an operating room!!! I would recommend John to anyone who wants a quality job and a tattoo they will be proud to show off.

Im sorry Im late writing this but I couldnt go another day without saying how dope John is! My friend and I came into Full Throttle a couple of weeks ago to get tattoos and the experience was so positive. I told him my idea the day before when I first met him and he exceeded my expectations. As an artist, John explains everything thoroughly from the idea to the aftercare of the new tattoo. Hes very talented at what he does, very professional, and an all around good guy. The shop is totally clean, sterile, and comfortable. I will definitely be back...and even bring another friend. Like I told John that day, "I found my new artist!" :)

My boyfriend and I had a tattoo idea that we really wanted to have done kind of last minute. We called a bunch of tattoo places in the area and none would take us. Then we found John! The shop is super clean and John does a great job making you feel comfortable. He was so accommodating and worked with us on tweaking the design. My boyfriend has had a lot of experience with tattoo shops and he said hands down John will be doing his next one. This was my first experience and Im already ready to go back!!

John did my tattoo this evening and I couldnt be happier. He took his time with the design, made sure to show me his work which has been published in Ink Magazine. His shop is a room, but all his equipment is single use only, he doesnt re-use needles or ink wells. He came recommended to me by 3 people who showed me what they had done by him. If youre looking for a shop with a look book, then John isnt the guy for you as all his work is custom, not generic.

Im new to the area so I was looking for a new shop. I called Johny cold and from start to finish, I couldnt have asked for a better experience. The professionalism and expertise of Johny is outstanding. His pictures speak for themselves but you wont be able to truly appreciate his work until you see it in person. Johny is an incredible artist and a true master of his craft. No recommendation is too high for this shop.

I went to John after i got my first tattoo in norwalk done by some guy named alex. Johns work was hands down 1000 times btter than Alex. It was just a little sketchy at first, but he is very professional and extremely clean. He makes sure his work is centered and makes sure you re comfortable before he even starts. His prices are a bit expensive, but his work is worth it. Highly recomend it!

Friendly, laid back, experienced, helpful and just a really good guy. My girlfriend and I each got a custom tattoo and we both agree it was the most satisfying tattoo experience weve ever had (we both have multiple tattoos already) from the consultation, to the tattooing, to the aftercare, John is the man setting the standards in Stamford - 10/10 would recommend :)
