i sometimes go to New Haven for dinners with friends on weekends, after dinner, i always stop by this place to buy some desserts and bread to take home, i was told that the bread is 1/2 price after 9 or 10pm ( i forgot exact time), however, three weeks ago, i stopped by (after 10pm) and tried to buy the bread to take home, i paid the full price, i asked the store clerk what happened to the 1/2 price, he told me that they got rid of the discount thing which i was totally fine with it, however, last Saturday night, i went there again after dinner to buy some desserts and bread, suddenly, i got the 1/2 price for the bread, now, i am really confused, do you either offer the discount or not, MAKE UP YOUR MIND...oh, one more thing, you are NOT allowed to sit at the table unless you order the food from them, for a book store? give me a break.

Absolute worst experience I have ever had. I had been here before and loved it. Today I had the server Danielle. she was extremely rude and incompetent. She took 20 minutes to bring us our tea and had to be reminded about everything we ordered. 50 minutes after being seated she asked if we wanted the check when we hadnt even received our food yet. She said shes forgot to put the food in. There was no apology or acknowledgement that she had messed up. Then she came back and said she found the order but they were now out of what I had asked for an hour prior. She treated me with extreme disrespect that I did not deserve. That was an unacceptable experience.

This place is obviously popular, but I have to call them out for being rude. My wife walked in with an ice cream cone from a nearby business. I understand they have a no outside food or beverage policy. But it was snowing outside, and my wife needed a place to breastfeed. We ordered something off the menu. But the manager got rude about their outside food rule. She could have just politely gone with something like, "in the future please know our policy...." Instead she lost us as customers for good.

A New Haven staple. Delightful nook with lots of interesting, new books, cards, bookmarks, and accessories for sale. The muffins and sandwiches are divine. Stop by. Sit. Meet friends and chat. Browse books. Definitely have breakfast, lunch, brunch, or a light dinner. Staff are friendly, and best of all . . . The prices are affordable. Great place for students, empty nesters, retirees, tourists, and all. My favorite muffin is called: "Morning Glory." It can really brighten your day!

2.5****I love the cafe/bookstore combo defiantly love the feeling of that. But the book side staff were very friendly but the cafe side not so much. They also do not clearly explain that "YOU MUST BE SEATED" like WTF its a cafe NOT a restaurant I found it a little snooty and stuck up of the place. but the book side was like a dream lots of cutsie lil things. disappointed in the food too though not what is sounds like very bland not worth the money but still a decent price

I was looking for a bookstore, and this was more of a cafe that happened to sell a few books. Theres hardly any selection and the staff is kinda unfriendly. I sat at an empty table to rest a bit and was told I had to leave if I wasnt ordering table service, to make room for other customers... There were no other customers, just like 30 empty tables.

Great selection of books, but very unfriendly! I bought things before before 8AM and online it says that its open at 7AM, but somehow I just wanted to by a postcard and got turned down at 7:30AM.. they let me wonder around for 15min and when I walk up to pay.. no its not possible.

Fantástica cafetería, muy buena variedad de sandwiches. Podría tener más libros. Si el sueño los aqueja prueben el café nitro.

Every time Ive been, the service has been excellent and the waitstaff polite and attentive. The food is always very fresh. I highly recommend the Italian tuna salad, its amazing. Sandwiches are big, hearty and reasonably priced. I love this place, its one of my favorites.

Waited an hour and a half for our food and watched folks who came in after us get served first. They had apparently lost our order, so that wasnt a great way to welcome my parents who were visiting for the weekend. The food is decent, but not worth such bad service!

Such an amazing little bookstore! Every Christmas and birthday I ask for a gift card to Atticus. It is a perfect spot, with great views, and has a cute little cafe. Perfect spot for curling up with some good food and a great book. I do wish it was bigger though!

Whenever we visit New Haven, we have to stop at Atticus Bookstore/Cafe. They have the best breads and jams in town. I love all their soups, salads and sandwiches. The bookstore is the best too. I love the cards, journals and stationary they offer. Its a must.

They dont have much floor space so they dont have the widest selection of books. That being said, their staff recommendations section is fantastic, and thats what really makes a brick and mortar bookstore stand out these days.

Great little cafe within a bookstore. Great service at the cashier, table service hit or miss, but food is consistently good. Its popular with locals and tourists, so its always crowded.

We got there and anything we asked to n the menu needed 45 min wait. The cashier suggested we get items which were ready made. He gave me a turkey sandwich which looked. We left.

So sad to hear about your new policy towards this bias movement, why not Olde English or Latin?, what about your Bastille day celebration?, Wow,

Nice cafe inside the bookstore. Fast service. Standard salad, soup, and sandwich options. Would be nice if brunch went past noon on the weekend.

The bread at Atticus might be overrated, and the service stinks, but its a nice place to sit and study. My favorite spot is at the bar.

As a bookstore its great and staff are friendly and helpful. Could do without cafe staff who were not welcoming at all.
