Dishonest. I called today and asked if they processed C-41 film on site. "Yes" was the reply on the phone. "How long does the processing take, an hour or so?" "2 days" "Wait, what? 2 days? Why does it take 2 days?" "Its not fast like digital. It takes longer" "And how much do you charge for developing and scanning to a CD?" "$6.99 for the developing and $6.99 for the scanning." I hung up the phone and went to Jays Photoshop in Old Saybrook, as I was working in Meriden this afternoon. He developed and scanned my roll of film in one hour. $3 for developing and $5 for scanning to a CD. If you have 2 or more rolls of film, it would be cheaper to Flat Rate USPS the rolls to Jays and have him mail them back, and then progressively cheaper as the film count increases. Previous Experience: I had $30 in various prints made. I opened the envelope at checkout to find that all of my 8x10s and 8x12s had dark strips from a printer error. No one bothered to check my prints before sending them out the door. The next time I went to get prints, I checked at the register to have the cashier roll his eyes and sigh with frustration that I wanted to inspect my prints before leaving the store. I try to support local businesses, its easier to buy everything online, but I believe in helping keep our local businesses open. Unfortunately, places like Milford Photo give a bad reputation to the few surviving camera stores that still exist these days.

Fantastic experience! I was doing research about purchasing a camera, had two in mind, and wanted to make a purchase locally even though I could have saved sales tax online. Chris at Milford Photo is awesome. Even though it was really busy, Chris took his time to show me the features of the camera I was looking at, provided several lens options and I was a little overwhelmed by all the information he shared with me. The level of service I received wouldnt even be close if I purchased online or in a big box store. While I was there, Chris received a phone call from one of his customers, and although some people might be annoyed by this, I thought it was great that he was willing to spend 10 minutes on the phone walking someone through when they were having trouble. This just means you receive excellent service even after the sale. Awesome experience, extremely knowledgeable staff, and Chris was even considerate of my budget. I walked out with everything that I needed and a brand new camera that I am confident was the best choice. Thank you!!

What can I say- excellent services as always. Ive been going there off and on now for about three years. I have yet to have a bad experience. Ive bought film, lighting, filters, etc. and they most often have what I need. Im also a big fan of the staff. The guys who run the camera display always say hello and ask how Im doing. Im a big Olympus and Sony guy- and theyve got that stuff in stock as well. They seem like real camera guys which Im a fan off. Its been awhile since Ive done one of their workshops- but the one I did was very informative and didnt feel rushed either. I just dig it. If your in the area you need to stop by. Best part is after you purchase some stuff theres always some ducks hanging out a block down waiting to get photographed:) I rarely go to brick and mortar stores anymore, but this one is well worth the time and I consider it a destination. Its the whole experience. 5 star all the way.

Me: "How much is this camera?" Curmudgeon Employee: (after ten minutes of looking up the price on a computer and iphone) "two-thousand dollars". Me: "the build quality of this camera body is really nice." Curmudgeon Employee: "yes theyve really improved it since the previous version." Me: "Ive heard the OLED view finder on this camera is amazing. I wish I could see it." Curmudgeon Employee: ... (silence) Me: "Is there any chance I can put a battery and lens on the camera body so I actually see what it looks like?" Curmudgeon Employee: "no because then people start firing it off and before you know its ruined." Me: "goodbye."

not bad - if you are bottom fishing for equipment, I would not go here - there are cheaper places to buy if you do your homework. they have great developing services for sure, and the fact that they sell and process 120 film is great for me. I wish they had a bigger used department, Camera Wholesalers in Stamford has a great used department, as does Hunts in the Boston area. Inventory levels of accessories is OK, but not that great. In the end, they are an OK local choice and we should support local independent businesses for some of our purchases...

FALSE ADVERTISING - I went to Milford photo to trade in my camera because they were giving a 50% bonus on trade-ins. Dont believe them! Yes, they give you a bonus, but their trade in prices are MUCH LOWER than any competitors. These guys are only about profit ! Do yourself a favor and shop at reputable dealers like Camera Wholesalers in Stamford, or BH, Adorama etc, or shop on Amazon. My third visit to this store to make a purchase, and the third time leaving without a new camera. What a waste of my time. Hopefully you wont waste yours !

I had the experience of meeting the owner of Milford Photo the other day, Jim Wilson. He is knowledgable of the equipment, friendly and truly one of the great business men of Milford, Connecticut. Not only did he answer my questions but helped me develop ideas for the future of photography. I have bought cameras and accessories at Milford Photo for a few years, after meeting Jim I will never go anywhere else. His store proves why buying in person is truly unbeatable, online shopping just doesnt do it justice.

The store is alright, but the big problem that I have with them is that they charged me $7 extra to scan the negatives at a "high resolution". a 58% price increase to press a button and change one setting in a scanner?? I know that they have the upper hand here, but thats just silly, excessive and unfair in my opinion. I do photography professionally, and its tough for me to justify to a client a price increase like that when they dont know the difference between different resolutions anyways.

Knowledgeable and helpful. Their prices vary but many top-of-the-line cameras and lenses are the same as large online retailers. Unlike those large online retailers, Milford Photos staff is happy to talk with you to make decisions, resolve problems, and discuss photography! High quality printing services. Neat building-- the store is in an old bank.

If you have nothing good to say, better not to say anything at all. This place is just terrible from all aspects of business and customer service. Very unfriendly, and very uneducated about product in film/video. Educate your staff! All of them!!!! Especially the ones that may be cleaning a sensor on a $5,000 camera!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you prefer to buy things blindly i suggest not going to Milford Photo. But if you want a personable sales associate who will go above and beyond to help you find what you need, learn about it, and even let you try it before you buy it, then Milford Photo is your place! Forget the rest, head there if your in need of a photography fix!
