Normally I really like stopping at a Safeway. Today, however, I found that the south side Safeway off of Nothern and Prairie is LACKING in customer service. Checkout was a less than smoothe with only 2 lanes open at 4 p.m. on a school day, each with 4-6 patrons/carts waiting at a given time (making the lines spill out into the aisles, making them impossible to pass through) which was a little frustrating when I had a fussy baby and a 9-year-ld with a full bladder because their one and only bathroom was locked. After checking out with a cashier who had the personability of a flat soda, I was in the cart return area buckling my 7-week-old into her carseat. One of the employees fetching carts (there were two running in and out), came up behind me from the door with a cart. Instead of being polite, and saying, "Excuse me," or even behaving like a civilized human being capable of language, he gave me the exacerbated hand flail and an irritated grunt to indicate he wanted me to move. Later in the parking lot, I hadnt even finished unloading my kids and groceries, and this same boy (I hesitate to say man) was already encroaching from behind me for my cart, which he snatched with an attitude and a silent lack of acknowledgment (not even a, "I need that cart"). I called to let management know, only to have it ring and ring until the line finally just cut out. I dont think I will be stopping there again anytime soon. Instead Id rather stop at the King Soopers across the street.

This Safeway has problems with frozen food. Everytime the ice cream has been thawed and re-frozen. I just got a couple Hagen Daz ice pints and again thawed re-frozen. What is going on there? I saw you guys closed down the freezers and told me you were replacing them. Well now there up and running but the problem persists. Im sorry but Im not spending my money anymore at that location. To bad you dont have another location anymore. Guess Ill be doing 100% of my grocery shopping at King Soopers. This re-freezing ice cream is dangerous by the way. Dairy procducts cannot be treated safely like that. Someone just might get sick. 6/17/17 I never heard from Safeway very disappointing. They should read these reviews and respond. Mandatory at my last company I worked for.

Had a bad experience trying to get my money back. They kept dismissing me after I visited several times because the bookkeeper,"Mindy" was apparently the only one who could fix it and she happened to be on break the first time, left early the next time and wouldnt return until after the weekend my third attempt. My cards customer service couldnt help either so I had to take the advice of the Safeway manager who said itd be placed back on AFTER 8 consecutive days of being "in limbo." All this because I tried to get cash back and I was $5 short. Never again!

Store is always clean. Checking out can be a nightmare because not enough checkout clerks are manning the checkout stands. Usually there are 5-6 people in a line with full carts waiting to be checked out. I recommend making sure you have ample shopping time because you can wait up to 20 minutes or more to get through the line.

There pharmacy department has gotten horrible over the past 2 years. I have been lied to while trying to fill my prescription while my friend of a different race has not had the same problem. They have lost my prescription twice lied about my doc not calling, Im loyal but Ive had it go to another pharmacy if you can

The Safeway on the South Side offers residents and visitors alike a typical Safeway shopping experience. GH

Pretty much the only supermarket I shop at. All of the staff has always been nice and helpful. The specials that are ran are competitive and normally easy to find. Ive never had to take a rain check. The store itself is well maintained and kept clean.

I had the same experience with customer service not answering multiple calls. I called the pharmacy and someone there told customer service to get on the phone. The second star is for the pharmacist who was willing to help me out. Thank you!
