There are numerous wine shops and wineries and Sonoma Valley where you can try some wine tasting. Some are really outstanding while some others are just a-OK. We visited this wine shops in a cute little spots by Sonoma Plaza. It has a cute sign with some tables and chairs right outside, and when you enter, there are window seating on both side, and one table in the middle. Since we were just there for the wine tasting, we did not sit at the table. What was disappoint to me was that the same glass was used, without being rinsed out, so the white and reds a getting a bit mixed, and each additional tasting was mixed of all the previous wines... and we were getting such a small amount in the glass. Once you are used a wine tasting with a generous pour, it is not pleasant to go to wine tasty with stingy amount being offered to you... Another thing was that he made a negative remarks about us visiting from NY. Overall, I got to try and discover all the excellent wines that I have never heard of, but did not purchase any bottle. I really think the not-so-nice or friendly service can make or break the experience. In this case, I did not enjoy the experience that much, I wish if we had more than half the sip for each wine, and I wish they would rinse out the glass in between so that we can really appreciate the flavor of each wine. Sonoma Wine Shop and La Bodega are a gem spot for the Sonoma Plaza. While many know to find boutique wines in the shop and enjoy $5 tastings of small lot wines, even the locals rarely know about Chef Rick Vargas kitchen that handles strictly vegetarian dishes and upscale cheeses. Tip - go there for lunch, as it is not open for dinner. This is one of the very best wine clubs I know of for the California Wine Country. It was amazing. Wine tasting in Sonoma at $9.00 in Sonoma or anywhere in this wine region is the best kept secret. The wines are wonderful. The food was great. At one point we were in the restaurant with a lady from Israel, a man from Syria, a lady from Canada, and us from the US talking together like best friends. Isnt this how the world should be!!!

walked into the shop to purchase a few bottles of wine. Unfortunately the shop assistant was so rude and abrasive that I turned around and walked out empty handed. Really doesnt matter how good the wine selection and prices are (not that great) if the staff that work there are uncooperative and dont understand good service
