Easily one of the best shopping areas ive been to, but today i was approached by a 40 to 50 year old African-American man that was supposedly collecting "donations" for hungry children. I was walking down the street near aldo and h&m and suddenly i see a "man" coming towards me greeting me in my language and asking me if i was Saudi Arabian. I told him i was Kuwaiti. So there he was telling me he is a "certified" by police donation collector. He asked if i can give him some money, so there i was foolishly giving him reasons why i dont want to because i dont have change and because i already help certain legal organizations and when i try to walk away smiling he flips out and starts cursing me and my religion, calling me a terrorist and that i should go back to my country and cursing my religious beliefs and the holy Quran. Never have i thought to even curse his religion because i know that i shouldnt since he represents himself and not his religion, I started shouting at him as he tried to approach me and i even called 911. I went to the security and he told me to stay away and he said that hes a scam. Ive been coming here for a long time and Im surprised but im pretty sure there are bad people everywhere. So if this is seen by officials then please do something about this issue because i love this place and i dont want it to face any problems because of sick people. Thank you for reading and please stay away from scams as sometimes they lead to worse situations.

I love the 3rd Street Promenade! Whether you want to do some shopping, eat some amazing food from a selection of fantastic restaurants, see a movie at the theater, or maybe you just want to hang out in Santa Monicas relaxed atmosphere and enjoy watching all the street performers - theres always something fun to do here! Not to mention you are a 5 minute walk from the beach and the Santa Monica pier! A note about the restaurants - most do tend to be suited for the middle and upper budget ranges, but not to worry as there are some cheaper spots too, Also, a quick note about parking - there are a ton of parking structures on both 2nd and 4th along the length of the Promenade (i.e., between Colorado Ave and Wilshire Blvd), most of which give you the first 90 minutes for free then a dollar ever 20 minutes or so after that (I forget how much exactly, but Im sure its close to that). There is also metered street parking, but be sure to check the signs and feed it - the tickets are expensive these days! Enjoy!

Always something to see and participate in while shopping a large variety of different shops and restaurants. The weather is absolutely beautiful 95% of the time all year round. Be prepared for traffic on Saturdays and Sundays but not so much in the mornings or after 6 p.m. . And be prepared for delicious food wherever you decide to eat because these restaurant take putting together meals serious! Most places are a bit pricey, but you can find some affordable restaurants that also compete well with the high-end ones. However if you decide to spend top dollar you will not be disappointed because every restaurant puts both elbows into whipping up amazing and unique meals around the globe!!! Best Yet the population that frequents this area is extremely diverse ranging from locals to tourists and all life in the cities under the sun period a very safe and inviting area which is heavily patrolled by Santa Monica Police to keep things on the up-and-up at all times.

Overall, interesting street. If you are looking for a beach SoCal vibe, shopping, food, street performers and outdoor games to pass the time playing foosball or corntoss even Ping-pong for Free in the middle of the plaza.. it is the place to be. Lots of new shops, from high end to stores for mortals like myself- there you will find wonderful Al Fresco restaurants and affordable bites as well, I gave a 4 because on certain peek of the day, gets pretty crowded and almost impossible to move around stores without getting pushed by people..:( If you have little ones, I recommend to be prepared with water, and wear comfy shoes- you will be walking a lot and not enough benches to sit down and rest or water fountains to fill up your bottle. Restaurants wont offer free sip of water at the front like in other cities, not enough Public bathrooms ( Barnes and Noble are kind enough to let you use it) restaurants have a very strict policy on that.

99% of the locally owned business are gone. The last time I went here was around 1997 and even then there were cool mom and pop shops. Two weeks ago I went back to Third Street Promenade hoping to see some semblance of the place I loved visiting only 17 years prior. Remember where Pee Wee got his bike stolen in "Pee Wees Big Adventure?" Or the cool record shop where Molly Ringwald worked at in "Pretty in Pink?" Well this outdoor mall is nothing like that anymore. Its all big chains now; Gap, American Eagle, Starbucks, Zara, etc. As a result, this is a nice place to visit only if you are including it as part of a general exploration of Santa Monica, or if you are in need of a mall-schmall moment. The Third Street Promenade is no longer a destination for tourists looking for a unique LA cultural experience.

It is the place to be before or after the beach. Every kind of store from Apple to a little kiosk with cellphone accessories.3 blocks of Santa Monica on 3rd st. Running N/S are pedestrian only. There are street performers of every kind, Santa Monica friendly guides to answer any question you have. At the south end is a gigantic shopping mall with Bloomingdales, Tiffany, Maxazria, Michael Kors etc. Also on top level an expansive food court and movie theatre with those amazing "I never want to leave" seats. Arclight theatre. The promenade is also a nice place to just have a gentle walk and get a feel for the town which is a genuine priveledge to live in. Treelined and sculpture adorned, its beautiful at night. Tourists and locals alike will come back and back again.

I LOVE the Third Street Promenade! It has just about everything you can think of for shopping, and with such a fun and relaxing vibe with the pedestrian only streets! Theres always street performers, oftentimes very talented, playing the violin or other musical instruments along the street, and crowds will often gather. If you can grab a spot on one of the benches, its a very romantic and relaxing way to end an evening. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from, you can find something for everyone! The Santa Monica Place mall right next to the Promenade is very nice as well and has many dining options. I love coming here to relax and shop and walk around! Despite the crowds, it still has a very chill and relaxing vibe to it.

As much as Id like to deny the five stars given to the 3rd St. Promenade, I simply cannot. It it the gem to a beach of a same quality only blocks away with a melting pot of American life wearing them on every finger. The shopping is reasonable for the average person, unlike Rodeo but could stand to take a tip or two off Melrose. The dining is both fine and off the street, both of which are quite satisfing and with a Chipolte in the middle. The street performers are plenty and range from the man who has just woken up on that same street to the next Katie Perry. Itd be nice to be able to smoke or stop into a "Majestons Avocado & Swiss Fak Yeah" for his special but you cant have it all, only think you can.
