I had a tattoo done at the Gilded Lily... the artist told me I could not go any smaller with what I wanted (even though I have seen smaller tattoos done with more detail), He was nice but a little pushy. My tattoo ended up looking nothing like the picture I brought in, there is color bleeding and it basically looks like someone couldnt color in the lines. Freehand I can draw a better picture. I am not a tattoo artist and I know that skin is far different than paper or canvas but Id think if you are tracing an outline and then shading a lot better of a job could have been done. The artist did the shading of the object incorrectly, and just overall made a pretty bad mistake that I have to wear on me forever. I am really bummed and hoping to get a cover up tattoo (done by someone else) very soon. Its a real bummer because this was my first tattoo and the subject of the tattoo is very meaningful to me. Also, may I note, all the tattoos listed in his portfolio are not all done by him... some of them are on him. So to sum it up... I am very dissatisfied and will never go back and would not recommend the place to anyone. Unless you want a tattoo done by someone who doesnt have a clue what hes doing... sorry to be so harsh.

I am pretty shocked to see a negative review about this shop. I had a tattoo done a few years ago when the shop was still in Boulder Creek. Ian was my artist and designed a beautiful lotus flower which you can see in the online portfolio. Ian was very pleasant to work with, was very patient with me as my tattoo was in a pretty sensitive area and really took the time to make my tattoo colorful and beautiful. The shop is clean, the artists are professional and the prices are fair. I get compliments all the time on my lotus and I always tell folks where I got it done. Great shop!

Showed up as a walk in and immediately felt welcome. Jason did a great job on a piece of flash painted by Kai the apprentice. The actual tattooing experience was super easy and relatively painless no issues with scars swelling or any signs of abuse. So so so happy and will definitely be returning.

First time ever getting a tattoo and Ian was awesome! The atmosphere was great everyone was having and engaging in good conversation. Relaxing environment and Ian was very patient. I highly recommend both the artist and the shop.
