Im appalled at the living conditions I found the white-bellied caique and Meyers parrot in. They live in tiny cages that are better suited for songbirds than parrots and they each only have one toy and a ladder. I asked to handle the birds and while the Meyers parrot was friendly (having only just recently arrived at this Petco), the caique was absolutely terrified and lashed out to bite when, to my horror, the boy working here pulled him out of his cage despite the poor bird already backing into a corner. The boy didnt know much about parrots, or how to care for them, having never owned one himself, and was confused when the bird exhibited displaced aggression and turned to biting the finger he stood on. The bird is nearly a year old and I wouldnt be surprised if hes been stuck in that little cage with the same toy for his entire young life (minus weaning period). The boy working there said he and the manager occasionally take the bird out for 10 minutes or so to change its food everyday. Thats not nearly enough stimulation time for this intelligent parrot so no wonder he fears strangers. Petco seriously needs to either properly educate their staff on proper parrot care (and then actually properly care for them) or stop neglecting/abusing these beautiful creatures. I know it can be done because the other Petco at Sunnyvale has an excellent manager who knows proper parrot care and cares for the parrots there better than Ive seen them cared for at any other pet chain store (the cages are also much larger there).

I used to buy a great deal of animal supplies to support my classroom animals. I had everything from guinea pigs and hamsters to bearded dragons and tarantulas. Seventeen animals to be exact. It was Noahs Ark, I had two of a lot of the animals actually: two charcoal corn snakes, two beardies, two leopard geckos, two tarantulas, too many hamsters, and so on. I also have two dogs of my own so I feel qualified to give these guys a 5 star rating. While everything is not perfect there, and there are larger competitors nearby, I really liked their staff. They have a fairly well informed and stable staff that would recognize me and help me out. With so many stores carbon copies of each other, this store stands out for the sheer friendliness of the majority of their staff and I give them the five for that.

Online pet food for my kitty cat and kitty love when I go to that store and buy him his favorite Kitty food and can he thinks it is great that go to Petco my kitty enjoys Petco you bring my ocelot in there cuz hes my Companion Pet and he gets a lot of people look at him thinking hes a little miniature leopard while hes just that awesome Kitty and when people find out hes friendly and loving and just like everybody to be held that much stranger it was just good and cant be caught when hes out in the backyard playing with his Savannah cats anyhow this kid has got a personality like no other Kitty I love my kitty and thats why I cant go get his food at Petco is Petco is the best in the business of specialized dog and cat food I highly recommend Royal Canin for my pets

Love coming to this petco, this store is kinda small but they deffenetly have great service. We came looking for a hamster the lady working here, (Melissa) did an amazing job helping us find our little hamster. It was kinda busy at the time we came, but yet she still managed to explain everything about hamsters. She let my daughter pet and held many different hamsters until we made our decision. Petco needs more kind and experienced people like Melissa.

They sold me an unhealthy fish. When I called for some advice, the best they could do is simply have me return the fish. Upon attempting to return the fish, they then directed me to another store. It was not the service I would have hoped for. I feel like I would have had a better experience buying a fish online. Is his really the world we live in these days?

Customer service is very poor. Staff is rude and unprofessional when transactions are a bit more complicated than usual. Prices arent good even if compared to a similar chain, Petsmart. Pet Club has the best prices in the area.
