The only thing keeping this place from being a five star establishment is that the people who run it are smart and work hard, but are inexperienced. Creating a vibe is part of the coffee shop experience and the feeling that once lived there left with the previous owner. They seem to be trying to keep everything the same, and it cant work... so it makes going there less welcoming and fun. Hope they find their voices and swing the vibes to their own tune, because the coffee is GREAT... barring the very occasional bad call by a barista.

Great coffee, great service. Ive been in here a few times now, and have always enjoyed my experience here. The coffee is more expensive than other chains (such as Starbucks) but you expect that when they bring in really special and high quality coffee and tea. The atmosphere is pretty chill, and sometimes they have cool events like record swaps (yes records!) and other get togethers. If you are looking for a coffee/tea place to go, definitely check this one out.

Was visiting from Portland and needed some proper coffee. Read the reviews of the place, so gave it a shot. The coffee they have is from Portland, Olympia and Seattle roasters, which I like, but was hoping this place was an independent coffee roaster. All in all the coffee tastes like it came from the Northwest for obvious reasons, the staff is friendly, but demi-knowledgeable. Will be back next time I am in Modesto.

Great. Im not used to finding good coffee in Modesto. I wish I had known about this place when I lived here. Had the Big Truck Espresso and it was really good. Nice balance of sweetness and acidity. Wasnt sure which coffee it was for the drip coffee, but it was pretty good. Maybe not as good as Chromatic Coffee in Santa Clara but handily beats any of the chain coffee houses.

If youre into coffee and youre in Modesto, youre not going to find anything better anywhere near. Seeded by the greatness that was Serranos Social Club, Preservation does a good job keeping the flame alive. Dont come in expecting Starbucks like milkshake desert drinks named with made up words. Just delicious coffee and espresso drinks made from fresh roasted beans.

Pretty good, but a little grimy. The loft is EXTREMELY small, and the coffee is pretty good. Anyone who recommends the clubhouse mocha to you is an extremely white girl. Its chocolate sauce with mocha and whipped cream. Buy a black coffee. Be a man. Or an independent woman. Either way, bring a novel or a textbook so you wont stick out like a sore thumb.

Read reviews here and wanted to go get a sandwich hot pelon and some coffee. When I got there, turned out the info on the this site was old. The current owner has been there 5 years, and many items on the menu have changed or been modified a bit. I ordered a blended caramel coffee drink. I tried to.

The atmosphere is what youd expect from a San Francisco coffee loft. Coffee is excellent and the selections: well curated. Anyone who follows them on Instagram knows that the staff is essentially one coffee loving family who often share amongst themselves and the customers their passion.

I thought I would be disappointed after seeing the menu. Very plain and simple. However, the gentleman who helped me out recommended a beautiful tea and the clubhouse mocha. A big kids hot chocolate for my daughter. This place is delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone.
