Though it of course has its shortcomings (an absurdly small and difficult-to-maneuver parking garage, incomparably steep prices – theres hardly a kombucha here for under $5), Erewhon does provide a really excellent shop. Theyve got a better and more concise selection than the nearby Whole Foods (which seems to be their only local competitor), offering an abundance of small-scale local and specialty imported goods, as well as the best prepared foods weve had from a store of its kind, a good healthy produce section, and, as silly as it may sound, impeccably kept bulk bins. They make an extensive selection of to-go snacks, meals, and drinks in-house, of which weve tried things like a cold-pressed juice they call Smashing Pumpkin, a raw vegan rendition of the classic Almond Joy, numerous sandwiches, and a grass-fed steak breakfast burrito. With the exception of some disappointingly lackluster raw vegan entrées (e.g. pad thai* and pesto zucchini pasta), everything weve had by them has been exceptionally good, and was made with ingredients that reflect the quality of the rest of the store - entirely dissimilar to say, Whole Foods prepared foods. More so than anywhere comparable, Erewhon definitely seems to cater more towards the vegan community, even specifically the raw vegan community. While this is an appreciated and fantastic resource for those that fall into this dietary category, its a pity they dont more thoroughly accommodate folks eating similarly particular diets that include meat and dairy (Weston-Price, Primal, etc). Other than Organic Pastures, there isnt much in terms of raw milk cheeses, and the majority of their meat isnt pasture-raised or grass-fed, let alone anything resembling fresh. Even aside from food, Erewhons dedication to sustainable practices is clearly visible, having put in place a bottle deposit system for their house-made drinks, choosing to use biodegradable ware, and not offering paper or plastic bags, but rather very well-made (and good-looking) reusable bags for a fee, or nothing at all. If you can manage to swallow the cost, the quality of stock here more than makes up for it. There are certainly cheaper ways to go for good food in LA, but for many products Erewhon is the only option, and their prepared foods can be a godsend if youre in a pinch or tied to the area for an afternoon. *Note: Weve since retried the raw vegan pad thai and theyve seriously upped their game. Amazing.

Store loyalty program is bogus and has a costly fee to join. Ever more stringent, there are more ways to overpay than anything close to rational let alone save here. And some were just beyond reason and not only undid any loyalty I felt, but rather engendering hostility to the point I no longer shop here even though I live right next door. No card, no save / no redo even when a receipt and card was provided - and for every 10 times I forgot the freaking card or my bf had it, I probably only rembered to try to "recover" my points 1x. Well turns out the nearby pavilions had everything I wanted for less (says something when pavilions is the cheap alternative). Too bad, I liked the convenience. One thing I did not like in addition to the ridiculous ever-changing program however, the simple fact is for a supermarket charging that much money, they have some gall for how close to or beyond the expiration date a number of the items in particular in the dairy case tend to be.

I love the Deli, with all the amazing foods and juices made with great care and with healthy, organic ingredients. One cant help but to marvel and enjoy all the other unusual health items in the store. This store has grown in leaps and bounds from its earlier days way back when. I want to shout out to William in the Deli department who is so patient and will hold your goodies when you call so they dont sell out when you get there, and he remembers your name. Hes always cheery, with a welcoming smile and greeting. The whole staff at the Deli are so hard working, friendly and warm. You cant go wrong with any of their items. My favorites that sell out fast, are the quiche (so amazing, it melts in your mouth, like pudding), and the Crispy, cinnamony sticky buns. I shop at WFs too, but stopped buying their soups since they add fillers to thicken them. But Erewhon uses no fillers, and are always amazingly simple and wholesome. Yes, though, this place can be pricey, but worth it!

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but there are some areas that truly need improving upon. The prepared foods department are the best! This place makes Wholefoods prepared foods department look like amateurs. Unlike Wholefoods, ALL of Erewhons sushi are made with wild-caught fish. Another cool thing about this store is that they sell Karma Baker treats! The issues that I have are (1) there is only one unisex restroom for the entire store. You are in for a wait of you need to wash your hands and/or use the restroom. Another issue (2) that I have is that they forbid customers from getting two different types of meat on a protein plate. The Calabasas Erewhon allows customers to mix and match, but not this location.

This is my favorite organic grocery store. Its as if Whole Foods went on a detox and back to its grassroots local former self. The range of products is incredible, the selection of organic produce superior, and the customer service is the best—not intrusive or weirdly stalker-like, and not absent. Its perfect. Their prepared foods from the kitchen offer a wide range of raw, vegan, and paleo options as well as good old fashioned home cooking style dishes, too. They have great healthy and organic baked goods. They also have a beautiful and carefully curated wine section, too! Its a spacious, clean, lovely store. Erewhon is a perfect 10 in my book.

Medium sized natural foods store, excellent selection of juices and ready to eat vegetarian and vegan foods! Good juice bar, popular with locals. Specialty items, herbal remedies and alternative products make a visit here an interesting experience! Regular canned items, mixes and packaged goods are on the expensive side. Unfortunately, after filling up and mixing a container at the salad bar, I noticed little bugs flying around the food so I had to get customer svc to microwave my salad upon which a tip was left in the jar. Since the salad bar is near the front door, this is understandable, next time Ill get the packaged ready to eat.

Best grocery store- best deli- best prepared foods- best juice best vitamins etc etc! Yes its expensive so make sure to price check certain items you can find other places for cheaper (eggs, frozen meals) but they have stuff no one else does and I love not having to search for organic or gmo free products. I know I can come here and everything I grab is responsibly made. Love love love. Hours are fantastic too and theres enough staff that you shouldnt ever have to wait for help :-) would give more stars if possible!

Wow. This store was amazing! They have lots of selection of gluten free products. I will say that this store is expensive! I dont know if normal people pay $9 for a small bottle of orange juice, but I wont pay it. They do have a huge selection of fresh squeezed juices and have a smoothie bar. Its way over priced and this store caters to people who want "to feel good by spending a lot of money." That being said, I had a pleasant shopping experience and I would go back if I was in the area.
