Its to bad people have to be rude to you if your not there to buy something at that moment. Even though In the past I have bought a beach cruiser from Jax along with every bike lock or anything to do with a beach cruiser including a basket and new seat or inner tubes if I get a flat I buy from Jax. I lived down town hb for 20 plus years its always been my bike spot and normally I get great service. No longer though. I went on a bike ride today and my chain kept coming off due to my rear tire bolt was loose. I dont have the tools to fix it myself so I went into my local neighborhood bike store JAX like normal when I need something. I brought my bike in and waited for an employee to help me. A blonde hair guy asked me If he could help and I said yes do you mind if I borrow a wrench to tighten my bolt my chain keeps coming off because its loose. I was going to offer some money but before I could offer he made a slight laugh and said "we dont loan tools here" and walked away. WOW! he made me feel like I was some homeless person looking for a handout lol. I was willing to offer $5 i had on me to borrow a wrench for 30 seconds it would of taken to tighten the bolt. Hopefully the employee will read this and realize it better to be helpful than rude because you permanently lost a loyal customer over something as trivial as tightening a bolt. Instead of me continuing to believe Jax was go to bike store. Good Job bud

I walk into Jax to get a tire fixed on existing bike and to look at purchasing a new bike. Sales guy shows me some bikes that I like, tells me price is $350 for a cruiser. Up Sells me on surf rack($99), bike lock (25), and then a special lubricant for the tires(25). After debating on what i wanted to do, i decide to buy everything but only if they could throw in the special lubricant for free. After all, i was 500 dollar sale and the sales guy really pushed the lubricant. Tells me he has to ask his manager. Manager walks out and says NO to offering some stupid lube for 25 bucks. I had my wallet out ready to hand him my credit card to buy it all. "we dont negotiate price". How smart is this guy, blows a 500 dollar sale for a 25 dollar lube bottle. I ask the guy if his margins are really that fat for the lube and that skinny on the bike? No response to my question. I walked out and told him no sweat off my balls, his loss and ill just get a better and cheaper bike and the lube across the street. 30 minutes later i had the same bike and amenities and very satisfied with my purchase from his compeitor. I would never recommend Jax. They thought they could strong arm the sale and im sure they take advantage of unsuspecting tourist crowds. A good local word goes a long way and Jax doesnt have my good word.

Let me start by saying that I have never before left a negative review online. I went to Jax while 15 miles into a 30 mile ride. I needed to tighten my freewheel (yes, an old bike with a freewheel) which Id just serviced a few nights ago and not tightened enough. I have the tool to do it at home, but hadnt taken it with me. I went in to Jax and asked if either I or they could tighten the freewheel. The guy looked at the bike which has quick-release wheels and said "Well, Id have to put it on the rack and remove the wheel to get to it. Ill have to charge you." I figured that he meant a buck...maybe two. I offered to take the wheel off which wouldve taken all of five seconds. He still told me itd be $10! Ten dollars for 30 seconds of his time -and thats being generous and allowing him to walk to fetch the tool. If you do the math, thats $1200 an hour. Why become a brain surgeon if a bike mechanic can charge that. I told the guy after deciding out of principle to leave, that hed have a better chance staying open if he had good rapport with the community. I realize that he wants to run a business, but there are better ways to stay in business with todays online competition... like offering fantastic customer experience and service which online retailers cant offer.

New to town, just moved here a month ago. Decided to pull out my ol beach cruiser and get it rollin again. Took it over to Jax and spoke with the general manager who assisted me. I can see why the staff is so wonderful and helpful, they take after their leadership. Best service ever, I cant say enough, started with a tune up and tires and ended up buying a super nice seat, new handlebars, and some other accessories. Already got my list for what is next. Took my cruiser for a nice ride up and down the beach and man did it feel great! Thanks to everybody back at Jax, Im back to cruising again. You guys are awesome, thanks for everything! Jeff

Good service but high prices. My bike had a flat tire so I took it here for an estimate on repairs. The gentleman working that day was super helpful and told me what needed to be done and how much it would cost. It was more than what I paid for the bike, so I didnt go through with the repairs but I definitely liked the friendly service!

Worst customer service I have ever received in any bike shop!! I bought 2 bikes from them, but they wont back up their products, even though the bikes are only a few months old. They have a bunch of young kids running the shop!!!

We went to Jax with a bike issue that 2 other bike stores had misdiagnosed . Gary rode it and had it fixed in 10 min. He was knowledgeable and friendly. We are not going anywhere else again.
