Kukje is an amazing Korean grocery store for 1-stop Asian good shopping. Like other Asian grocery stores, Kukje has a stellar selection of prepared food (for example rotisserie chicken, all the ban chan under the sun (such as kim chee, seaweed salad, daikon salad), kim bap); fresh seafood (3 different kinds shrimp, trays of uni, mackerel, abalone, oysters, mini octopus); fresh meat (ground pork, ground chicken perfect to make dumplings and wontons from scratch, steak); beverages (sake, Japanese, Korean, and American beer, soju, japanese refreshing tea, aloe drink, flavored yogurt drinks); fresh noodles (wheat or rice based); appliances (20+ different rice cookers, hot water boilers, pots, pans); make-up counters (Shiseido); fresh bakery to pick up pizza bread, egg custard bread, fresh mochi, green bean or white bean bread); and much much more. This place is larger than Nijiya and Woo Ri and much nicer. On the weekends, there is food sampling. Today we sampled udon, fried fresh oysters, and gyoza. Rather than running all over SF for Asian groceries at Nijiya, Ranch 99, and Woo Ri, Kukje is my go to destination.

there is a restaurant within the market, tucked away in the right front corner of the store in between some other hot food stalls. I love the hot tofu soups they have, especially in this forever freezing bay area weather. my girls love their teriyaki al a cart dishes. Its not really a la cart, since it comes with banchan, small side dishes. I wasnt impress with their bin bin bop, the fried egg on top was cold and way over cooked. The ramen was disappointing, it clearly wasnt fresh ramen but dry bag ramen. The service at this place is horrible, you are ignored for the most part. when you finally flag someone down to take your order, the next time someone comes over is to bring your food and you have to flag someone down for your check. And if you need a take out box, better get up and get it yourself. We come here when we have some grocery shopping to do. convenience is sometimes the big seller

Its difficult to find genuinely good Korean food in the US, because the food in Korea is just so mouthwateringly amazing. So, if I want something really tasty, I often have to try making it myself. Were so fortunate to live in the Bay Area, where Kukje provides a rather comprehensive selection of genuine Korean food items at a comparatively good price (not that Korean food ever was cheap). They also have a couple of little shop-in-a-shop that are worthwhile checking out. The embedded restaurant isnt exactly amazing (did I mention my expectations are high?), but its good enough for a quick bite on a weekday night. So we end up going there regularly. Also, the ready made food items are pretty tasty. Im particularly fond of the sashimi salad.

I enjoy eating dinner at the Japanese/Korean restaurant inside Kukje Supermarket. This is the only Korean supermarket to my knowledge in Daly City and I would come here more often if there was more ample parking. Otherwise, I have to circle around until I find an open spot or just park across the street near Dominos Pizza. I rated Kukje four stars due to parking, but honestly, I definitely think this place is a hidden treasure. Grocery items are decently priced and the restaurant food is tasty. Definitely come here around dinner time to get the most out of your wallet for their half off packed foods. A must try for those that dont want to wait 15-30 minutes at the other Korean restaurant at Westlake Shopping Center.

Probably the best selection of Korean goods in the Bay Area. They also carry non Korean items, but their focus is certainly Korean. Great prices. Selection of produce is good to great depending on the day that you go. The employees are friendly and helpful, however most do not speak much English. If I am looking for something that I am unfamiliar, I will make sure that I take the Korean spelling of the item that I am looking for in case I speak with someone that does not communicate well in English. It is located really close to Ranch- 99 which has a better produce department, however, Kukje is a must when we pass through the Bay Area to or from our home on Coastal Mendocino.

This place has all the things you need Korean. They offer pre-cooked meals, sushi rolls, a restaurant within, fresh meat and produce, and prepared meals for hotpot. They also have packaged picked dishes you get at the restaurants for your eating pleasure. There is also a beauty county at the far end of the market as well. You can also find most of all the other things you need there in an Asian market (more towards Korean products). I shop here often, even though I dont live nearby. Prices are decent for some things, and slightly pricier than others (if you compare with some Chinese markets). I sort of trust this place more though for freshness though.

Grocery/Market - I go to this place when I need to buy those korean instant noodles soup (Nongshim Shin Ramyun Black is one of the best), ingredients for tofu soup, adzuki beans for mochi, potato noodles for japchae or beef for japanese gyudon. They also have imported snacks that cant be bought somewhere else so I usually check those out, too. Oh, I also get the fish shaped wafer wrapped vanilla/red bean sandwiches here - so good:) Restaurant part - I come here when its cold and I want spicy tofu soup. Forget about the service, because it sucks. The tofu soup makes up for the bad service though. And that its fairly close to where I live.

Great market with a high quality meat selection -- especially the kbbq short ribs. Youll find low-cost ribs as well as high-priced with amazing marbling. The hot pot meat selection seems good, but its not. Within a single package the cuts are not uniform thickness. Some too thin, and some too thick for hot pot. In one package, there was shredded plastic between each slice, like they cut the meat with the plastic still on. I spent 20 minutes thawing and carefully removing the tiny shards of plastic from between each slice.... then threw 3/4 of it away. Waste of $20.

Mainstay for north peninsula Korean groceries. The hot/prepared foods are somewhat overpriced, as is the built-in restaurant, but handy if you need some ready-made food fast. As with any decent Korean market, a large assortment of pickled and fermented foods await. My favorite (and its getting rarer to find) is the ready-made doraji/toraji in brine. Its also the only place in the north peninsula that Im aware of where you can find Cuckoo and Cuchen brand ricemakers. Parking is tight, especially on weekends, but a tiny bit of patience or walking will work wonders.

I like this Korean market and its super convenient! I usually come here to raid their asian candy section, buy kim chi, Korean side dishes, Korean chicken wings and my favorite green tea ice cream. Their small restaurant isnt bad and it has reasonable prices. Ive eaten their sushi rolls, and soft tofu soup bowls. I do like their beef or pork kimchi tofu soup with egg and Korean side dishes. The service can be slow but keep your eyes open if you want something. My friend and I had to grab our own water at the end.

Kukje is where I go for weekly staples such as meats and decent priced veggies. Their korean food selection is quite good. This would be a 5 start rating except for the fact that they never offer standard cuts of Korean style pork bellies (sam-gyup-sal). Usually they have very thinly sliced cuts resembling bacon. The meat price for korean cuts is the best in the area so far however. The market is older looking but decent. It doesnt feel dirty. Prices are best in the area.
