While the D&D/RPG community at Adventures is quite amazing, the M:tG community leaves a little to be desired. At A1 Comics, all Magic drafts are done for rare draft, meaning that everyone who competes will get at least 1 rare (with first place getting the first two picks.) That way, no one is picking only rares from their packs, the players can focus on building good decks instead of grabbing money cards, and most important of all, everyone plays to have FUN. At Adventures, the drafts are done for packs, and whatever you pick out of your draft pack is yours. This leads to a much more competitive environment. Now, I shouldnt be complaining about a game of competitive Magic being competitive. But some of these people take this game WAY TOO SERIOUSLY, including the owner of the store, who is VERY intrusive and once threw an 11 year-old kid who had never played Magic before out of the tournament because his deck was ONE CARD SHORT of the minimum. No warnings, no "you can still play but you cant collect prizes", just outright DQed him. As for the store itself, the staff are all very friendly and the selection of RPG material is astounding. They also have a rewards program for frequent buyers. And their online card database is superb. All you have to do is copy/paste your decklist, and the search engine will find all the cards for you, calculate the cost, and then print out the list. The boys will then go through their collection and get your cards for you the same day. It really beats the hell out of fishing though several binders only to find half of what you actually need. To summarize: great place for RPGs, bad place for Magic. If youre looking to get into Magic I highly recommend A1 Comics instead. A previous employee of A1 will also be opening his own comic shop in Natomas, which is sure to be amazing.

I have been looking for a good group to play D&D with for a few months, wanting to get back into the game. When I stumbled onto Adventures Games And Comics. I meet this HUGE following of players that meet every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, as well as 3 Saturdays out of the week. I was Amazed that there was still such a following of people. It was amazing the store liaison/worker guy in charge of the whole thing was extremely helpful and informative. The set up that they had was really easy to get involved with and all the players were kind, well mannered, mature, and helpful. The store its self seemed to be in full support of supporting the RPG community, truly if you are looking for a store to by your gaming materials and book you should come here, just to support this store. Most stores that Ive been to just sell the merchandise and dont really care about the players. I truly think this may actually be the only store in the Sacramento Area that actually cares about the players, and tries to keep the following going. They store owner even offers some pretty decent discounts to the RPG players and they have fairly competitive pricing as well. This will be my store from here on out and I suggest you come and check it out.

this place is awsome one of not the best card shop in sacramento area for magic they almost always have the best selection of magic singles and they have a online site. the customer service is good and if u go for a 3 months they usually learn your name the staff is friendly and honest because once i left the store and i dropped a 10 and called later that night asking if i left it on the counter and one of the staff saw me drop it and saved it for me with my name so when i go back they would give it to me..... no joke really happened. the bathroom got upgraded and great escape games now looks like a out house in the store if they still dont have a porter poty still out side due to renivations and for the compitition u have to play here if u want to get better.....

Theres never a reason to GO here, unless you can walk there. Its actually cheaper and faster to buy online and pay shipping than it is to go in the store and pay credit card fees. I called ahead about a MTG tournament to make sure everything was good to go. I get there and Im the ONLY one there, so they just say too bad. They could have told me that they werent expecting anyone when I called. Terrible service, poorly updated calendar of events, uninformed staff. They do have a very organized store, but you might as well just buy online.

The people who play here are pretty nice. I simply hate buying singles here. The system always takes too long and if you start a game to kill time they act youre inconveniencing them if you dont want to drop what youre doing to go pay. Plus they rarely have what I need. I hope they either drop the system or find a way to make it function more efficiently. There really is no guarantee that your card order will be pulled in a timely fashion and the line for single cards can get inconveniently long out of nowhere.

The comic shop is the only one I go to. Its consistently fantastic. They work very hard to create a fun and accepting environment. Every single employee is willing to help you with any question you have. Their RPG and MTG selection is gigantic, and theyre always busy with sales and events for games. They have Heroclix, Pokémon, MTG, and Weiss Schwarz events throughout the week. Theres a reason I do all of my comic and game shopping here. This is the best LGS in the area by far.

This is a great local shop, great TCG prices, comics and games. But the best part is the management! Avrom and Anton are great guys and have impacted the community and the people who patronize them in a great positive way. They have created a harmonious space for akward people who really need somewhere to feel comfortable and play games. Its cluttered musty and a local nerd landmark/watering hole. Its awesome, I love this place!

Ive been coming here for many years and always have had a positive experience regardless of the game I was playing at the time. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Always greeted when I walk in. They usually have a great stock on singles for Magic and Pokémon. This store really shows its appreciation to its player base with different special tournaments and player appreciation days.

this is one of the best comic book shops in sacramento. the staff are helpful and freindly, the RPGA and othere RPG games are are very fun to participate in and the groups that come are starting to get bigger. I really enjoy coming to adventures in comics as I started playing D&D, they have all the supplies that i need and if they dont i can always order thru them.

This place has the best seletion on Magic The Gathering cards in the Sacramento area. Plus their online cards store is amazing and easy to use. The staff are always friendly and helpful. This is a great place to play MTG.
