i am what would be considered a "THRIFT STORE QUEEN" -- i am 38 years old, and have shopped strictly thrift stores for about 18 years now. i am better dressed than most, and my clothes cost about $3 each. for the past 10 years it has been strictly goodwill for the lack of other thrift store choices... so i have gone to every goodwill in the knoxville/morristown area and so i decided to do a search and see if i missed one and go check it out.... on doing the search, i came across the asheville, nc store, --- now that is about an hour and 15 min away, but since i would have to drive 35 minutes to my regular goodwill, and id already been to that one this week, i wanted to go to a different one. first of all, it had the hours until 8pm and other reviews had said they were in awe of how big the store is... this is totally true. the store is huge. but i have a much better PLUS for you, most of the goodwills i have ever been to, sort their clothes by color and you have to find your size within that color, i dont mind that, because i usually know what colors i wear and like, so im ok with it, but more often than not, you are going through the majority of clothes that arent even your size... this store is totally different. first of all, the shirts are sized by small med large ex large and so on... same with the pants, but when you look at the tag hanging from the pants, it also has the size written on it... you do NOT have to take the pants off the hanger hunting for a size tag... this helps soooooo much, it keeps the clothes hung up nicer, and the store looks better because of it... i will say that the morristown store and the kingston pike store (both in tennessee) do have nice clothes, but this was definitely a step up in quality in my opinion. it would be like the difference between going to kmart and then going to target... so yeah, i spent an extra 30 minutes to get there and an extra 30 minutes to get home than what i would have spent, but i didnt waste time going thru clothes that didnt fit me, i went right to my section, the clothes were hung very nicely, in nice order, they werent crammed in. and l really got some very nice clothes. they have lots of dressing rooms so you dont have to wait for one. i spent about $135 worth.for that $135 i got 13 shirts (not t-shirts, actual really nice shirts) and 21 pants. all of them looked very nice and practically brand new. the price is $3.75 for each. the down side to this goodwill is that there is no "tag sale" like i am used to in my other stores, you know, where a certain color tag is half off and another certain color is $1.00. they do not have that..... they should!!! however i will say this, in my regular stores, the ones that have the tag sales, on their really nice finds, they usually mark up their clothes to a higher price (usually $6) -- at the asheville store, i did not see any that were marked up, and all of the clothes that i got would have been $6 clothes based on the condition and the types of clothes that i got... so i am very happy even without the tag sale... one of the best shopping experiences i have had in a long long time.. the next time i need to do a big round of clothes shopping, i do plan to take the extra drive to asheville....

I like finding great deals here but I have 2 problems with this store. #1. When I walk into this store, and make it to the cash registers and beyond, my phone goes into roaming! I cant use my phone while roaming because it costs a lot! I first realized this about a month ago while trying to call my friend to tell her about something that would interest her and I couldnt. I couldnt call, text, or use my internet. I tried resetting my phone and turning airplane mode on/off several times with NO luck! I asked an employee in the store and she said they block data usage in the store! WHATTT??! Why and HOW would they block me from using MY phone? Do THEY pay the bill? I think not! They need to stop! Why do they think they can control what WE do with our personal items in their store? Shame on you "GoodWill"! #2 A LOT of their employees are rude when I ask questions... They make smart remarks and think its hilarious.. Dont get me wrong, some are as nice and helpful as can be but the bad apples that are not, ruin the whole bunch! Get it together Goodwill!

I love Goodwill! Just wanted that first since the rest of my review will not be positive. They are a great charity and typically have well maintained stores and reasonably priced used goods. This location however has constantly been a disappointment as they have crazy high prices and most of the merchandise is damaged beyond repair. In addition, there are numerous locked cabinets containing merchandise such as video games, electronics, and other higher end goods. This presents a problem for a shopper when it is quite difficult to find an employee on a weekend, much less one with the proper key. Shame, since on many occasions I have spotted something I was keen to purchase only to be thwarted by an impenetrable glass barrier.

If youre okay with supporting a company that funds Corrections Corporation of America (a really horrible private prison company) then go ahead and shop here. Or if youre cool with it being a place where only ten cents on the dollar that is donated actually goes to the "good causes" they support. Dont have any thoughts you are contributing to a good cause because its a facade. The prices are mediocre and often are more expensive than buying new or buying online because whoever prices thinks stuff is worth more than it is. That said if you can find good deals, but mostly if its stuff the pricing person clearly had no clue what it is.

Goodwill is a complete ripoff.. I wouldnt donate a penny to them. Went there the other day and tryed to buy a area rug they had for a month at least there.. Seen it before... Asked the manager if they could come down 10 bucks on price and he got a major attitude. Hope they go under!! Stop donationing to these people and maybe they will get it! Ended up getting the same rug online for 30 dollars less then they had it for.. Marking up donated items to over retail is ridiculous!

Its okay... Ive been several times and havent found anything, and Im a pro. The store is cluttered, and the lines run down past several shelves, so you cant look at the computers, for example, when there is a line. This store is in need of an interior cleanup and revamp. The parking lot is large, but usually full and busy. With the proper management, the inside could match the quality of many other Goodwill locations I have been to in other states.

Every now and then you can find a good deal here and the clothes are consistently priced and they usually have some decent clothes but on most of the stuff they want outrageous prices. I remember coming in one time and I found a vase that I liked it would look good in the house they wanted $5 for it and I thought well thats a pretty good bargain I flipped it over and it had a Dollar General sticker on it that said $3.
