I love this place, and Betty. When I first came into Red Rocket, I was shopping around for a new tattoo. I had looked around most of NYC, but had not found a place that made me feel comfortable - until I walked in that door. I wasnt completely sure what I wanted in my tattoo. I had a few ideas of the project, but was uncertain how to make it come together, and look good, especially with the place I wanted the tattoo to be placed. In the shop, everyone was nice and humorous and very sweet. They made me feel comfortable right away, and Betty had in a few minutes come up with ways to do my tattoo, and make it come together. I set up my appointment, and she asked me to come back a few days later to have a look at the final drawing of the tattoo. And so I did. When I saw the drawing, it was stunning! Betty had really captured the essence of what I wanted and what I liked. So we went on with the job, and let me say this: I spend many afternoons with Betty, in sittings of at least 5 hours every time, (and besides of that, I spent 10+ days with a friend who had a lot of work done by Betty too), and I never felt anything but welcomed by her and the others at Red Rocket. Before I left NYC, Betty had made two large tattoos on me. People who see them, are always stunned by the details, and the work and the colors in them. And so am I. The work Betty does is just stunning and amazing. She is a fun and bright woman, and I felt comfortable and welcomed by her (and the others at the shop) every single time. Red Rocket is not your usual tattoo shop... This is so much more. Btw, I am going to NYC again very soon, and of course Im gonna pay her a visit - cause no body elses needle will touch my body. Betty is the best :)

I had a piece done by Max Shoberg, my first proper tattoo, in early November 2011. Designing the tattoo was a genuine collaboration - I knew what I wanted the tattoo to represent, and had a vague idea of how I wanted to to look. Max took the time to sit down and talk right through the design. He offered various suggestions and sketched out possibilities, while always being respectful and careful not to try to impose his opinions on me. The result is so much better than what I had originally imagined - it is unique, it looks fantastic, and its almost like Max took the meaning I was after and refined it into an amazing work of art. The quality of the tat itself is superb - it is just fantastic work. Max made the whole process very easy and relaxing for someone whod never sat for a multiple hour tattoo before. I met several of the other artists who all seemed to share the welcoming, respectful, friendly vibe. The other work I saw was also excellent. As others have said, the studio is spotlessly clean etc. Tat healed perfectly and quickly. I cant comment on the price except to say that it seemed very reasonable to me. In any case, youre stuck with a tattoo for life - do you really want to scrimp on a dodgy artist wholl do a crap job? Overall, Red Rocket is a great place to get your tattoo. That said, if you want a tramp stamp or something out of a book, go somewhere else. These guys & girls are proper artists who want to produce good, unique work. Especially if you want something a bit special, they will treat you with respect, they will work with you, and they will produce a tattoo that well exceeds your expectations. Cant recommend it highly enough.

Betty Rose- I live in the UK & was in New York on holiday & wanted a tattoo, after careful research into all the tattoo shops in NY (and there are literally hundreds) I decided Red Rocket tattoo was top of the bunch & best met my needs. The second I walked in I met Betty, I told her I had a rough idea about what I wanted & she took my idea & turned it from just a plain dreamcatcher design to a unique tattoo piece nobody else in the world has & that piece is probobly the best tattoo piece Ive ever had done, Im so proud to show it off. Whilst getting tattooed I was completely at easy as Betty was constantly talking to me & making me laugh, it really took my mind of the pain. The service from my initial consultation to finally getting tattooed & paying was top drawer. 100% professional, no complaints at all. I even got a free shirt & stickers!! Betty was so good, 6 months later I flew back to New York from the UK specifically just to get tattooed by Betty then flew straight back home! Just goes to show how much I rate & value Betty as a tattoo artist & as a person. My second go around at Red Rocket was just as enjoyable as the first, maybe even more so as it was the summer this time & the sun was shining in NYC. This time though Betty did an amazing job at covering up & expanding a small generic backpiece into an amazing work of art. Wheather its a rough idea you have, a cover up, anything, for me personally, Betty can do it all & I cant wait to go back for a third time this summer. I couldnt rate Red Rocket Tattoo or Betty Rose any higher, I would recommend them both to anybody. Good Times (:

O.m.g. Got tattoo from korea, cali and ohio before i got here and holyf####... not only place is nice and clean but people are so friendly. On TOP OF THIS, unlike ANYOTHER TATTOO shop, they dont treat u like product or just a number for business. They will consult you very thoroughly and even suggest not to do this and that because in few months or 1 year from now, it wont look the way it is now (detailed very close lines, white ink, etc., eventho if they left me do whatever i want, they get more money).... also... my artist, Kris, she stayed even after shop closed with me just because she wanted to do more detailed job and she wanted to add more color to the eye (one of the piece i got today) just because she thinks it will look nicer. Idk i could go on but how clean they are with gloves, and everytime they touch SOMETHING, theh will be doctor clean freaks but its all for us u know? Anyway i wanna go here again, and i brought in 2 more people and they were very very very satisfied with their tattoo as well. Man. This is first review i have ever written i think cuz i was so blown away by this place..... make sense they are like allllll booked almost all 11 artists.. wow... there is reason why these places dont go bankrupt. Thanks again! Oh cant leave out the counter guy! Andrew. Man he . Is. Nice and kind and funny. Dood. One of the reason why i made appointment here lol
