It takes a LOT for me to leave a negative review. I had the absolute worst experience at Margolis Vision in Lone Tree today. In fact, Ive had much better experiences at Walmart and Target vision centers. I called the office a few hours prior to my visit to make sure that my benefits had been verified and that they had all of my information correct. The lady on the phone suggested that I call my insurance company myself to verify benefits and just to bring my card into the office. This seemed odd to me, Im already aware of my vision coverage but wanted to make sure that they accepted my insurance and that I wasnt going to be surprised by out of pocket expenses. When I asked her pricing on a contact fitting, she told me that she wasnt sure and that it just depends. Even if she didnt know the exact number, an estimate would have been nice. I arrived at least 10 minutes early for paperwork, etc. After handing over my paperwork (a ridiculous amount by the way... cant paperwork be done online these days...), the lady at the desk then decided to call my insurance company to verify benefit coverage. Shouldnt this be done prior to the visit? YES, it absolutely should be done beforehand!!! What a complete waste of time. I sat there with my daughter for at least 40 minutes while she attempted to verify my insurance then told me incorrect information about my coverage. I asked her to call back to double check which was obviously asking a lot based on her tone... Another 15-20 minutes goes by. She came back and told me what was covered and what wasnt and then walked off into another room. At this point, I had been there over an hour. It felt like I was at a used car dealership going back and fourth with a salesman on pricing and coverage. I saw the doc stroll through with coffee and he was very concerned about rescheduling appointments from the day before due to the blizzard. Hey, what about the people that are here sitting in your waiting room? I was very unhappy with the overall vibe of the office, my experience communicating with the staff and the complete disorganization of services offered and benefit coverage verification. I wish I would have read their reviews on Google, Facebook, and especially Yelp beforehand. After an hour of sitting in the waiting room, I decided to walk out and take my business to another optometrist office that is more professional. Clearly, they do not value patient relationships or your time.

I will give 1 star simply because the receptionist tried to improve the insurance payment. However, I waited 1 hour 15 minutes past appointment time to be seen (without any sort of apology). In fact, that acted as though I was inconveniencing them to ask any questions throughout the process. The first receptionist to help me said she was new, but that doesnt excuse rude behavior. The tech who took me back did the entire exam (which is not what I have experienced in my 15 years of visiting optometrists). There was a $100 contact fitting fee! Very high. In addition to that fee though, anywhere else I have been they give you a sample of contacts for the fitting. Here they asked me to use the ones I brought from home and then would need to throw them away for more testings. I did insist that they provide the sample (as I was low on my supply) but other places usually give a 5 day supply, not a begrudging 1 set for the appointment. Dr. Margolis finally saw me and insisted I needed to come back every 3 months for (unnecessary) testing, before even looking at my eyes. He scheduled a second appointment in the room! I explained I was primarily interested in LASIK, (which I have been told for the last 4 years I am a good candidate) and he would barely discuss this option with me and said that I was NOT a good candidate..... Honestly, the 2 1/2 hour experience made me feel like I was at a used-car dealership. I would never recommend this place to anyone!

The most dysfunctional doctor’s office I have seen in my life. I have been going to Dr. Margolis for three years, once a year. The first time I went there, the staff were very rude and careless. I figured maybe the staffers were new and I just came in on the wrong day. The second time around I experienced the same thing. As I entered the office a lady while yelling at the receptionist stormed out. How rude I said to myself as I quietly signed-in. But later I saw why she stormed out. The Dr. himself was not interested on anything I had to say about my concerns and a couple of times, he basically told me to shut-up by pointing his finger in my face while he started a conversation with a staff member who very loudly entered the room while I was being examined. After my third visit I decided it was time to move on. I am paying for the services I receive but they made me feel like I am getting free service. If you have to go to this office and at your very first visit you get this feeling that something is wrong about this place. Just leave trust me it is not worth the heartache.

My family had been patients of Dr. Margolis since the 1990s. Every year we went there, we never saw any of the same staff members more than once. They continually billed us personally for something our insurance covered, and they refused to send the bill to the correct insurance, claiming it was our responsibility to pay the bills and the insurance even CALLED them and they still refused to bill the correct insurance. And numerous times we were waiting an hour, sometimes two for appointments without any explanation or apology! We have since changed to a different provider over a year ago, and yet Dr. Margolis office still calls us to set up an appointment. The lack of training for his staff, the turnover rate, and general lack of patient concern are reasons to avoid this practice, go elsewhere.

The worst doctor ever. He once stated during surgery he for got what he was doing, and looked lost. A nurse complained to the AMA, and they suspended his license until his colleagues could verify his medical knowledge. Unfortunately they did and he is still allowed to practice. I would stay far away from here. Also this practice has not been able to keep an employee longer than 7 months, they always quit. I believe this says something about him in particular. He farts and burps in patients faces and charges an arm and a leg for his weak medical opinion. They are many more qualified doctors in the surrounding area. Do not go here! Anything that has 5 stars here is a lie, and he paid for the good reviews. Check yelp for the real story

I ordered a pair of glasses and waited 6 months before they received them in the office. I called to follow up several times, as they never updated me on any issues. When the glasses finally arrived, they were not the style number I ordered and I waited an additional 2 months for the correct glasses. Regular appointment wait time was horrendous compared to other eye doctors Ive had. Doctor had terrible bed-side manner. He numbed my eyes for a dry-eye test then realized he didnt have the test in stock, so sent me home and told me Id still need to pay for the appointment and reschedule for when they had the test materials in stock. I changed to United Eye Centers instead and my experience has been terrific!!
