WHAT DID I GET: I got a fancy shmancy journal with a pretty cool skull drawing on the front. HOW WAS THE STORE/EXPERIENCE: The bookstore is pretty cozy and well-kept. It has a surprisingly awesome selection. That said, their customer service/attitude is pretty lacking. When I went there today, the people who were working there seemed utterly bored, apathetic and bothered, and when I tried to make conversation with them, they had this look on their faces like I just sneezed at them. Im not asking them to treat me like the king of England, but just...can they not act like theyre just too cool for everything? HOW MUCH DID IT COST: The journal was a little over $14. WOULD I COME BACK/RECOMMEND THIS PLACE: Part of me wants to recommend and come back because I love supporting local bookstores and stationary stores. However, part of me DOESNT want to because of their lackluster, craptacular attitude towards their customers.

An intriguing selection of books. I wasnt immediately inspired by the vibe to linger and browse. Which of course, with so much foot traffic off Venice Beach, is likely by design. If you find yourself staying in the hood and wish to stock up on a good read to burrow into - this is the place. Small World Books was an enjoyable contrast to the main fare of fun and audacity on the walk at Venice Beach. Book Soup in West Hollywood had a more sociable vibe for me, clearly encourage by Book Soup through their frequent hosting of readings by notable authors.

When I used to live down the street from here I would scope out the window all the time.I bought many art books here at great prices. Also, great paperback, cookbook, movie and photography sections. They have a decent magazine selection and a good go to place for calenders.

Fantastic selection of books for a small independent and excellent, friendly service. A sign of a great bookstore: a kitty cat, beach front and beside an openfront restaurant, and I left with 2 books that I didnt even know I was shopping for!!

This is a Review Small World Books for people who read and love art and think. Maybe too much of all that, if theres such a thing. The staff good was helpful but not hovering. It was a peaceful and I got all the things I didnt know I wanted.

the word affordable does not come to mind when I come here, but curated, relaxed, and interesting do. They will find any book youre looking for and call you when they have it. A great repreive before stepping back out onto venice.

A book store for book people. A throwback to the 50s and early 60s. The staff actually read the books that they put on spotlight. Love this place.
