I got my first tattoo at Aces over Eights and it wasn’t a bad experience at all. Cody’s work was nice, even though he never did any sort of drawing before hand and he was very difficult to get a hold of. He doesn’t answer his emails or his phone calls. I didn’t have any idea what protocol was so I went with the flow and although my tattoo wasn’t exactly what I wanted, I was happy with it. Unfortunately I had to have it covered up due to miss communication and confusion on the design. I went back to Cody to see if he could design something to cover up what I had. He didn’t seem to be thrilled about covering up his work but I couldn’t leave it the way it was. On the day of my appointment I was almost an hour late because of some really bad traffic and he was pissed off. I sent him some ideas for some designs but I never heard anything back from him. One of the artists did return my email telling me Cody would contact me when he had a drawing for me. I never heard back from him. When I arrived I was expecting to see a drawing but there was no drawing for me to see. Since I was late I didn’t push my luck. After a couple of hours we took a break and when I looked at what he had done I was instantly worried because it had gotten really dark and I also noticed the perspective was nowhere near the way I wanted it. When I paid the $250.00 for the work that was done I didn’t have a tip for him so I told him I would catch up with him for the tip. We scheduled another appointment for a month later to finish. A few days before my appointment I get a text message telling me that he was canceling my appointment because he didn’t feel like I was taking things serious and he couldnt waste anymore time with me because I had not given him a fifty dollar tip like I did previously. Now I am stuck with a terrible looking tattoo that is not even half way finished. The customer service was terrible, the follow up was even worse. There was no communication and a total lack of effort by the artist. I wouldnt recommend Cody to anybody looking for a tattoo artist. He made my first tattoo experience a nightmare. Now I have a piece of crap on my leg that can’t even be recognized for what it is. I was very disappointed with Aces over eights tattoo. Now I will have to pay somebody at least $500.00 dollars to have this thing fixed.

Aces Over Eights Tattoo is by far the best tattoo shop in the area. Bold statement, I know. However, I feel very confident in saying this, and would refer anyone to them in a heartbeat. When my beloved dog, Cooper, passed away last August, there was no doubt in my mind about who I wanted to make my memorial tattoo. Cody Holyoak is an amazing, well rounded artist, but there is no doubt that he excels in realistic animal portraits. My younger sister has a whole arm of wildlife that he created, and it is absolutely stunning. His love and respect for animals shows through in his work, and that is definitely what made me choose him to commemorate my furry family member. The whole tattoo process itself was easy, and he made me feel very relaxed although this was a very emotional time for me. He was very professional, clean, and his attention to detail was impeccable. There are tiny things on this portrait that only people who knew this dog would recognize, and it made me feel as though I truly have a piece of her with me forever. The end result speaks for itself, and to this day it is my favorite tattoo on my body. No matter who your artist is here, you cant make a wrong choice. Each of the tattooers here are beyond talented and passionate about what they do, and what more could you ask for than that? I have had quite a few pieces from this shop, and am constantly stopped by strangers to ask where I get my work done. I am always proud to tell them, Aces Over Eights in Petaluma.

My friend and i did our naval piercings with Joe. He is amazing the best piercer in the world. Not exaggerating this guy is great and very professional. He will put your mind at ease and go over all the info with you. He is super nice and friendly, i would definitetly recommend him and the staff to everyone.
