Bakery! If you miss the bakery here then you have missed everything special about this Safeway. Cheese Cake (plain or with cherries), cake bars on a stick, creme puffs (a personal favorite), and loads more! Not only are they available, they are amazing versions. You dont just get a 2" tall, hum-drum, dull slice of cheese cake, NO! You get a 4-5" tall, mouth watering, hunk of cheese cake! You dont get two bites of creme puff for an outregeous price, NO! You get two, size of your wifes fist, whipped mouth bombs for a very reasonable price! I do not live here. I was visiting. This bakery is a hidden gem and I am jealous as heck! Nothing like this bakery exists by half where I live. If you are a resident and you dont go to this bakery, you are missing one of the best reason to live here! Yes, you will need to stop eating for a week if you buy and eat anything at this bakery. However, if you really enjoy baked goods, its the one meal youll absolutely not feel guilty about skipping every other meal for! Go here, buy something decadent, enjoy your desert.

Like most chain grocery stores, Manteca Safeway runs out of the poplar items by the end of the work week, they and dont restock until the following Tuesdays. Middle of the week. early in the day is the better time to shop. Most sale items are junk food , or items about to expire, or items that sit on the shelf too long, or are Safeway Brands. Safeway name brand products, are usually way pricey, compared to the same products price at competitor stores. I use self check out because the cashiers check out clerks dont know how to properly bag delicate items like eggs & tomatoes etc. When I worked at a grocery store 50+ years ago, I was sent to a Jr. Collage to take a cashiers/checker procedures course at the companys expense, to learn how to do the job properly. Back then, the customer was ALWAYS right, but not so today. I give Manteca Safeway a 4 STAR****

Over the years this store has evolved into a really great store...love the produce dept. Lots of organic produce. The ONLY issue I have with this store is the gross disgusting bathroom. I was there first thing in the morning and it was NASTY...whuch tells me it wasnt cleaned from day before.

Waited way too long in line because there was only one checker, and when i asked him to bring another checker out he said there wasnt anyone else and he forgot to pack my dressing in the bag so i had to go back to the store. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! POOR MANAGEMENT OBVIOUSLY!

Ordered my 50th Birthday Cake. Cake was good but the decorations on the cake looked like a kindergarten wrote it!!! I was actually embarrassed to put it out!!! I was hoping for classy and elegant that was fail. First time to ever be disappointed with a Safeway cake.

Managment is allowing the place to fail. Promos mixed up. I payed full rate. When i told them i would talk to management or file bad review they then offered me promo. Line was long and making people wait is poor service. I would like a call from managment.

I have to say, this is fast becoming my least favorite store. LONG lines, unfriendly checkers and understaffed. . More than once I have had to bag my grocery order. When I am paying 20-30% more than Food 4 Less, I do NOT want to bag my groceries.

Clean store easy to find what Im looking for. Staff is helpful. Excellent place to purchase a flower arrangement they will put one together for you if you want something special. Fruits and vegetables are ripe and flavorful.

Prices have trippled on some thing doubled on others . Ive had alot of expired can goods expired in 2012 and sodas a couple of months. Ive been shopping there fir years but it has it a low and I wont be back!

I like this store. Great prices helpful staff. Lines can get long certain times of day but it is a very busy store. Deli and bakery both good sized with plenty of premade items to grab on the go

Terrible at night when there is only 1 checker! What ever happened to stockers backing up the checker when there is 10 paying customers having to wait to check out! Slow as s,,t!

It was pleasant. I got everything I needed. And the security guard is a real plus. Add a police patrol assigned to the store would be great. Need this at every Safeway. Right?

Love the bakery here, very inexpensive compared to Savemart . 12 pastries for 5 dollars compate to Savemart 6 pastries for 5 dollars and smaller portions.
