We met with the owner of Buttercream Cakes & Desserts at the Eau Claire, WI store and had a free testing. We knew that we were only looking for a small cake to do the cake cutting and was going to order bars from a local grocery store to serve all the guests. We told the owner this during the initial meeting. She proceeded to offer up her bars and gave us a few options. We let her market her bars but explained that we were only interested in the cake. We proceeded to try the cakes she provided and chose one that we both really liked. We then looked through their book of styles and picked out two different designs that we liked. We explained that we were still shopping around but wanted a quote on how much an 8" cake would cost with the designs we had picked out. They were simple icing designs and nothing too difficult. She provided us with a summary of what we covered along with an estimate of $79 for only the 8" cake. We later followed up with the owner via the phone once we decided to go with her business and I again was questioned on the bars which I explained that we were going elsewhere. She proceeded to explain that this was considered a special occasions cake and would not be a wedding cake as its only one tier. A month before the big day, I had to follow up with the owner to confirm timing on when I could pick up the cake as well as a few additional questions. I again was questioned about ordering bars which I had to decline explaining that I was ordering them elsewhere. At this time, it was agreed that she would have the cake brought to the Eau Claire, WI location by 11am the day of the wedding. They bake all of their cakes out of their cities location so they would have to work with the delivery schedule. She said that depending on their delivery schedule, she would have the cake delivered the night before if it was necessary. At this time, I also had to provide my credit card for the charges since I would not be the one picking up the cake and they prefer the payment early. I agreed since it would only make things easier for the others who where going to pick it up. Just over a week before my wedding, I was reviewing my credit card statement and noticed a charge of $129 from Buttercream. I called the owner again and explained that my card was overcharged based on the quote I was given. At that time, she attempted to take a message because she was too busy (her words) but allowed me to proceed. She then proceeded to explain that because I was getting a design, which consisted of a ribbon icing look, that I would be charged by the slice. She claimed that the 8" cake serves 30 people which was $4.10 per slice. This was never mentioned or discussed during any of the conversation I had with her even during the initial meeting when the designs were chosen. During this time, she again asked about bars and I again explained that I ordered them elsewhere. She very rudely asked where I ordered these from, sounding annoyed for not using her for all of my dessert services. At that point there wasnt much I could do and I was stuck with the additional charges. Finally, when it came to the day of the wedding, my cake was over an hour late and they didnt seem to care that they didnt deliver it in time. Those whom I had picking up the cake were frustrated with the way the employees handled the situation and that they did not seem to care. The cake also looked nothing like what I picked out. I felt as though the service that Buttercream provided was overall unprofessional and shady especially with the extra charges that showed up on my account. I would highly recommend not going with them as you will likely be just as disappointed.

Where do I start....rude, customer service was bad, cake design terrible, and overcharged. I recently used buttercream for my wedding and was so disappointed with the cake. Which no bride should be upset on her wedding day over a cake. I was able to get a free birthday cake for my husbands birthday, and got that screwed up too. All I asked was for a birthday cake that said halpy birthday and was in red, white, and blue. I got a white cake that had nothing on it. I will never use buttercream or recommend anyone to go through buttercream.
