Just like Amoeba Music is a temple for record heads, book lovers will find solace in City Lights. While the collection of books both from the main stream, classics, and independents are vast, the history is what makes this place special. My friend was in town for a librarian conference and this was on her list. I didnt realize what history this place had tied to it. Its worth a trip if not just for the bookstore, but the surrounding neighborhood as well because of its uniqueness.

This place is packed full with a great selection and friendly people. I love shopping here, and always find interesting things. But Im especially writing this for everyone who wants to sell. I had four big bags of books, and brought them here first. Theyre selective and only took 5 or 6 of my books, but I got $80 for them. I took the remaining three bags to the other store and got $15 for all.. Definitely worth taking the time to sell here!

Recently moved away from Seattle - and this is one of the places I miss most. My favorite used bookstore in the city. Because theyre so selective with what they sell, I feel like I can choose a book on a whim and fall in love with it. Also theyve got the right balance between slightly cluttered but still organized - I can always find what Im looking for, but the place isnt completely sterile either.

One of the remaining used book stores on the Ave. This one has quite a varied selection. Its a good place to drop in from time to time. Parking is a hassle, of course -- but in the U-District, thats just the way it is.

What a great find! Because of its close proximity to the university this place houses many academic titles which are not often found in other bookstores. It is also pretty easy to navigate within.
