I am so upset with this experience. I went in to get contacts fitted, even though they didnt accept my insurance. I was told it would be $180 dollars and they would see me as many times as it took to get contacts that worked with my eyes (maybe it was $160- something in that range). Life became very hectic with a childhood friends baby needing a liver transplant (a baby girl of 6 months) and I spent every day for the next two months with them (this was explained to the clinic later). It was very touch and go. Although the contacts they gave me to try didnt work for me at all, I wasnt able to go in for my follow up appointment for two months. I then made an appointment for a follow-up visit, and at the end of that appointment they sent me a bill for nearly $70. I explained I had paid the original amount for various visits, and they said I had "taken too long". They should have told me this before the visit, clearly. It should have been a written policy somewhere. They also wouldnt give me my prescription until I paid the second amount (I waited for two weeks for it, and finally called them to inquire, at which time they told me it was never sent out). I went in to pay the second fee, and my prescription was supposedly sent in the mail the next day. Today, I received it in the mail and it is BLANK, with the doctors signature and nothing else! I am so furious at this service.

I was shopping for frames and found a great pair that I really liked at Ballard Optical The person I spoke to tried their best to get me to buy on the spot and made it sound like a good deal. However, I wanted to think about it and shop around. After a few weeks I went in to double check what my out of pocket price would be after insurance. Although, the person I spoke to previously was there, I was helped by someone else, This other person was not nearly as helpful. She made it sound really difficult to find out how much my insurance would cover even though I told her I had VSP. She said "I guess we can look it up", but I could tell she really didnt want to. She had boxes spread about and looked like she was unpacking a new shipment. What bothered me was that the last time I was in the person I spoke to easily deferred what insurance coverage I probably had by asking me a few questions. And it really isnt that hard to make as simple call to check on a persons insuranace. That should be part of their duties. Unfortunately, the helpful person I spoke to the first time overheard the conversation and offered that I could go home and look it up on the computer. I think Ill pass.

I have been a patient for a little over a year, had 2 annual eye exams and purchased frames/lense twice. I do not have major eye problems but have a poor family hx, multiple issues. Dr. was courteous, on time, and patient when I had a hard time keeping my eyes open for part of the examination. The staff was friendly and would eventually do their jobs but yes, they do need to appear to care a little more. They chatted about personal things in front of customers, made fun of each other, and repeatedly mentioned how much they wish they could leave or had the day off. I know we all feel that way some days but its unprofessional in front of customers. Last yr I purchased frame and lense and this yr lens only. They were not pushy, not trying to sell the most expensive glasses or more coatings like Broadway Vision Source (I look young and I was dressed down, the sales told me I probably did not coverage for certain things and didnt hide her surprise when she saw I had good insurance coverage.) In general, BO has a nice Doc with down to earth staff what need to be a bit less relaxed in front of customers. But theyre honest and always get the job done. I can deal with it once a year.

I try to give most people the benefit of the doubt but there are standards when customer service is involved. I am not a patient at Ballard Optical but wanted to look for frames there because I heard they have a pretty good selection(yes they have a great selection) and I was referred by my boss. I was not acknowledged when I walked in the store and no one spoke a word to me until I walked to the counter. When I asked why this was the case I was given a list of excuses. The people in the front office or store front leave a lasting impression. I will not be returning.

I really enjoyed my visit here. The staff has evidently changed since these other old reviews, as they were very nice. The Dr was professional, friendly and went out of his way to answer questions. Great selection of frames and am very happy with their service. I will return for sure.

Front desk not friendly. Couldnt joke when the only option to get a prescription sent is via FAX or mail. FAX? Really doesnt it go over he same lines? Encryption...should be invested in IMO. The Doctor was amazing great guy very informative.

Ive been wearing glasses literally since before I can remember. Ive had a number of optometrist the past 40 years and Dr. Klimpton is the best. Ive recommended his office to a number of friends and co-workers.

My best optometrist experience to date. Very professional and thorough. I learned that my previous optometrist had overprescribed my contacts, and now everything is crystal clear. Would strongly recommend!
