In terms of service, this place is the suck. We order curry in bulk, we order it often, we are excellent customers. But my wife couldnt get any of this across to them, and they kept hanging up so she let me try. Heres how the conversation went: ME: "Hello I would like to buy hundreds of dollars worth of curry, who should I talk to." THEM_1: "We dont have $100 tree, what you want?" ME: "No, we need curry, we would like to buy hundreds of dollars worth of curry." THEM_1: "We dont have tree" ... we go back and forth like this for a while and she gets someone with a little better English on the line who starts off with ... THEM_2: "We dont sell bamboo trees here. What do you want?" ME: "No! I just want curry, we buy it in bulk, we need hundreds of dollars worth of curry." THEM_2: "We have curry on the shelf you can come by and get it." ME: "No... we need lots of curry and its a waste of our time to come to your store only to grab the 8 packages on your shelf." THEM_2: "I dont even know what kind of curry you want, we have jars and packages, and powder." ME: "I want the S&B Tasty Curry, mild. And I would like to buy it in bulk. Lots of it. Hundreds of dollars. We are good customers." THEM_2: "Im busy with other customers here." ME: "I understand."

It definitely has a good selection; however, they treat customers like a bag of a**. Dont expect any greetings. Imagine yourself being a ghost until you pay for your items. Well, not even that...the only conversation youll get is your total amount. Co-owners will squeeze in and walk by on the aisles you like you dont exist. Make sure you have cash on hand since no credit cards or debit cards are taken. A local ATM machine is also available by the entrance. There was one instance where the part owner/cashier was too lazy to put purchased items of a lady in the bagging area while the she starts writing the check. The cashier did not wait until the lady finished writing the check and started scanning my items and bagged it. While the lady is still writing her check, I accidentally grabbed her wrong items. The cashier chased me down, grabbed the bag out of my hand and said "THIS IS NOT YOURS!!"; then stormed out. The seafood selection is awful since you can tell that it has been sitting on the counters for a while; but the frozen, refrigerated, and canned sections are pretty good. I would avoid shopping here unless you need to.

This is the best location Ive found to purchase Asian foods and even produce & I try to do a little shopping here every time Im in the area. Their produce is very fresh, packaged well when needed, and extremely affordable! They have the best cilantro, bean sprouts, Napa, & Bok Choy I can buy anywhere Ive found. They have a good variety of products, especially red bean buns and dumplings & Ive found several brands we like while shopping here. Service here is fast & efficient. You can always find someone to help you locate a product you need if you ask up front. There is an ATM in the stores entrance which is convenient. The one downfall here is the overwhelming fish odor evident the second you walk through the door. Ive been to a few other asian markets that have not had this issue. Its been bad enough at times where weve really had to plan to just go straight to what we need, checkout & leave rather than shopping around a bit. I wont purchase fish here at all because of the strong odor in that section. Not sure what can be done to fix this issue, but its a real turn-off.

My Chinese daughter in law first introduced me to this place when it was in a tiny 7-11 building on HorsePen Road. The people who own the place hardly speak English, which may be why they come off as rude or terse. Its also a cultural thing. But, sometimes when I am there, and if I sped a lot, the woman owner will give me a token gift--maybe an Asian soft drink or something like that. She doesnt smile or anything, she just says, "here" and hands it to me. The selection is fantastic. You cant get fresher fish than the ones swimming in their tanks. Its the only place I can find quail eggs or frozen quail. If you want to wrap something in palm leaves, they have it in the freezer. There are so many kinds of soy sauce, pastas, tea (Including chrysanthemum)and spices that it is easy to become overwhelmed.I just love the place.

I only shopped here when it was the only asian grocery in town I knew of. Selection is decent but only if you already know exactly what youre looking for. I second what many of the other reviewers said.. the service is pretty dismal. The one time I did get someone to answer a question not only were they impatient but they were wrong; I was looking for a specific type of seaweed, Kombu, and the clerk kept pointing me at different types of seaweed from where she was sitting, saying its seaweed and didnt matter, I guess she didnt think I actually knew what i was looking for, nor did she seem interested in figuring it out. (you ever try to use sushi nori to make hot pot broth? ew.) Since then, Ive found a couple other groceries in richmond that carry specialty ingredients and try to do my shopping there instead.

+JMJ..Though not a great cook of Asian foods, I always enjoyed shopping here finding an excellent selection of some of my favorite frozen goodies: meat or veggie dumplings, Shopau (not sure of spelling of this delectable bread roll stuffed with meat and hard boiled egg). Also, they have a selection of ready made sandwiches, cookies, and other Asian desserts. There are fresh meats and fishes in addition to an amazing variety of fresh produce. Their pricing is excellent, very reasonable. This is a store I would recommend to anyone who has a hankering for Asian eats already prepared or to pick up ingredients to prepare at home. Enjoy your shopping experience!

This place has a huge selection of Oriental items, such as food and household supplies. Its hard to find an Asian supermarket in Richmond with a better selection. They have a nice selection of fresh Asian vegetables, as well as a small but sufficient selection of freshly butchered meat. Unfortunately, it is true what other people have said about the service being less than friendly. Also the cash only rule does apply here. Which is funny because one time I forgot my cash and they were able to take a credit card but it was a huge hassle for me, even though it was easy for them.

Customer service was horrible. The cashier that check me out, wouldnt even look at, much less speak to me, until he HAD to tell me (in perfect English) it was a $15 min to use your debit card. Which i went a got another item to finish my transaction. After all was said and done, he simply handed me receipt. If u call me practically getting behind the register with him to get my receipt...then yeah... that happen. I guess he was just fresh out of words...Never again. The Asian/International market on Midlothian is waaaaaay better. NEVER had an unpleasant experience with them.
