Let me start out by saying that The Coffee Shoppe is a nice little gem in downtown Portsmouth! Its one of those places youd think to hear is a "well kept secret," however thankfully its a very popular place, but still has the ambiance of a nice little corner shop. Even though every time I go there, theres always seems to be a lot of patrons sitting about, both inside and out, Ive never had an issue finding a place to sit. And the similar can be said for the line, it always seems long, but thanks to the efficiency of the staff, I never have to wait more than a few minutes. The prices are on par with that of other coffee shops, but the tastiness of the drinks and food make it well worth it! I highly recommend you explore the menu because I have yet to order anything (drink or food) that I havent been more than pleased with when all is said and done. A couple of extra perks is that the staff is always friendly, there is free wifi and its positioned perfectly in downtown that when youre done you are in walking distance of a few museums, the waterfront, and lots of festivals during the summer and fall!

The Coffee Shoppe is a great place for steady WiFi (some coffee houses have sketchy WiFi that goes in and out so much its hard to get work done). Seating inside accommodates about 20 people and outside there are 3 tables to accommodate another dozen. Coffee quality is excellent for drip options and espresso drinks (blended or hot), plus there are juices, canned/bottled drinks, smoothies, and teas. Decor is trendy with eclectic antique pieces that arent just old, mismatched items and food is a delicious range of salads, wraps, soups, and desserts(cookies, scones, donuts). The best part is that its so clean especially considering a lot of people with young children frequent this coffee shoppe since its directly across from the Childrens Museum.

Great local shop. Located in the oldest building in Portsmouth, the atmosphere is relaxed and good for work or conversation. I worked out of the cafe for 3 weeks so i got to sample all the food and can say it is all very good and very fairly priced. They have good salads, wraps, and sandwiches, as well as delicious fresh muffins, cookies, and cakes. The coffee is tasty and always fresh and they do the full gamut of espressos etc. Free wifi, great location, outdoor seating, friendly staff, cant say enough good about this place.

We stopped in here with our kids after an afternoon at the childrens museum across the street. The kids were thirsty and I needed some coffee. It was some of the best coffee I have ever had! I never wanted to leave!!!! The kids wanted something to eat so we got a cinnamon roll and some cheese cake. To die for!!! We are vacationing in Virginia Beach and Im seriously considering driving back down tomorrow morning for coffee!

I grabbed lunch here with my 2 sons while going to the children museum today. The girls working were fabulous! They were very patient while my sons were screaming that they wanted donuts. They didnt make me feel like I was being a bother in the coffee shop at all. On top of this the food was great and we had a fabulous time sitting outside. We will definitely be back!

Terrific coffee, quaint atmosphere with local art, the frozen espresso drinks are fabulous. Spoke to the owner about the coffee and the history of their coffee is unique. Local roaster and always fresh. I had the vegetarian wrap which was plenty to eat and very tasty. Nice place to relax with free wifi.

Small little shop in the city of Old Town. Its got a very local feel to it and the food is very good and is not pricey. The staff moves quick and courteous. The Shoppe also offers a small, outdoor seating area. The place to stop if you want a cheap, low-key breakfast or lunch

Im usually at work before they open, so I dont get to do breakfast but the lunch sandwiches/wraps are really good. Good customer service and good food goes a long way with me. A must try if you live, work or visit "Olde Towne" Portsmouth.

Excellent coffee shop in a great location. The staff is very friendly, and I love the coffee. But my favorite item on the menu is the chai latte, iced. Check this place out and you wont be disappointed.

Absolutely the most amazing coffee shop ever. Just be sure to order half the pumps of syrup if you get a flavored coffee as it tends to be too sweet and masks the coffee flavor.

Nice place for a coffee and small lunch sandwiches or breakfast selections. A better baked goods selection would be appreciated. Perfectly decent little corner coffee spot.

Patronized this establishment many times in the past. Although, they went through an ownership change there was no decline in quality. Its still a great place to get a latte.

Another weekend morning pitstop with great baristas and you cant go wrong with the King James hotdog, grilled cheese with double bacon, or my Irishman in Paris latte!

Where the locals go. Best coffee shop in Olde Towne situated in one of Portsmouths oldest buildings. Benedict Arnold took refuge here during the Revolutionary War!
