This was a pleasant surprise. I spoke in depth with the owner who was a long time backpacker. This store is not only a general store, with a wide variety of items for sale, but also a gas station, and a newly constructed Inn. The owner is not only the proprietor, but he also works in the store, and not only cooked our gluten free pizza, but made me a fresh salad using greens he grew and cut in his own garden! The general store: The general store has more stuff than I have ever seen in a general store. There are all sorts of items we cant even find in our local name brand grocery store... Just too many unique items to name. They also sell many brands of beer, and have a lot of the automotive items you might need for your RV or Camper while staying in Grayson Highlands Campground The Ice Cream My wife said it as delicious! I think she said she noticed the brand was Hersheys The Cafe: It was three tables, and to my surprise they had more than the standard chicken fingers, french fries and such.. They sell gluten free pizzas that they can cook for you, and also a decent variety of regular pizzas. They also server breakfast, which we didnt get a chance to try. Some extra things You may not appreciate this, but the plastic fork he gave me, and the container he served the salad in were both completely biodegradable! I think he said the fork was made out of some sort of sugar! This store is worth a visit on a day you are exhausted from hiking! Maybe a day when you dont feel like cooking? It is also one of only TWO places we saw withing about 30 miles that sold ready made food! Seriously, there is nothing around Grayson Highlands for Miles! That is part of the charm of the state park though!

My husband and I had a tranquil stay at the Grayson Highlands General Store and Inn over Labor Day Weekend. We had headed to the mountains on a spur of the moment and decided to stay overnight -- but, lacking a tent, we needed lodging. Typically, this would require staying in a chain hotel in one of the cities 20-30 miles away -- especially on such short notice -- but GHGS accommodated us arriving at around 5 pm on Sunday -- when we had called to ask about reservations at 4 pm! It was nice to stay within a few miles of the park and support a local business. The price is reasonable, the rooms are recently remodeled, and you will not beat the scene from the back deck (a river) or the distance to the park. We had a great stay and hope to return.

This country store was a pleasant surprise after a hike at Grayson Highlands State Park. The burger and fish sandwich both surpassed expectations but it was the variety of items stocked on the shelves that prompted me to get in here and share a review. Lots of drink selections beyond the standard soft drink fair including organic juices and even a selection of Kombucha. All kinds of specialty snacks and canned food items that you will never ever see at the standard country store. It was definitely refreshing, Ill be back whenever I go to the Highlands.

4 of us stayed here Memorial weekend. The owner and his brother live her and run it bthe are extremely nice. The room was spotless and homey. The rooms are located upstairs above the store restaurant ice cream shop gas station. The store prices are reasonable and restaurant has a short menu but delicious food. Its a very safe location. The backyard is private with a beautiful flowing stream. This is located right outside of Grayson Highland Park. The owner can provide shuttle if needed. I will definitely stay here again. I highly recommend

We had just setup camp @ GHSP and were looking for a grocery store. We found Grayson Highlands General Store but it was closed. As we searched for the next closest grocery store the owner drove up and asked if we needed provisions. We said yes and he promptly offered to open the store so we could get what was needed. He and his brother were extremely nice and the store had a great selection of product in all categories. We look forward to visiting again during regular hours to try food and ice cream from the on-site grill.

A friend of mine and I were hiking and camping in the area and decided to stop in here to grab some supplies real quick. We were in no way prepared for the friendly and extremely helpful owner of the General Store. Dennis was extremely helpful to us, even offering to look stuff up on his computer that we were curious about such as hunting regulations and the upcoming forecast. I highly recommend the italian sub in the deli as well! Thanks a lot Dennis!

I stopped in at this little store while riding on the Python (Highway 58). I had a nice chat with the owner who also rides and he is an extremely nice guy. He has done a tremendous job remodeling the place and it looks great. I havent stayed here but it looks like it would be a great place with the nice quaint location and the beautiful area out back with the creek. Stop in some time and at least say high to the owner. He has some really neat stories.

The park itself is absolutely stunning! Gorgeous views, and even a little rock climbing to be had if you enjoy that! The wild ponies and longhorn cattle make it very interesting. I hiked to Mt Rogers via the park. The only problem I had was following the trail at times. There are different trails that intersect in the park, and can be very difficult to stay on track sometimes.

Me and my beautiful gf strolled into the store after a long day of hiking and had a few of their delicious cheeseburgers. After speaking with the owner, we stayed the night in a newly remodeled room they rent out above the shop. Then, we made our way back down the next morning for free coffee and an even better breakfast. Great Place!

We stopped by after hiking for a few groceries. They were doing some remodeling but were still able to help us out. Got what we needed. I liked the enthusiasm the owners had and passion for his business and his future plans

This was a wonderful find for a group of hikers on a camping trip. Ate dinner and came back another night for more. Well stocked store, with large variety of goods, and food that is prepared with extra care.
