I first bought a pair of running shoes from them about a year ago. The girl who helped me out was very helpful and insisted that I buy the lower support shoes even though I have high arches. All was well until today when I went back because I needed a new pair. I explained the guy working there (well, sitting around is more like it, the store was completely empty) that I bought my last pair there, I would like a new pair and Id like to try some shoes with better arch support. He brought out three different pairs of shoes, was polite and nice, kind of stand off-ish but he just WOULD NOT EVALUATE MY GAIT. For the life of me I have no idea why he was unwilling to help. All I wanted to know is whether I pronate or supinate with the various shoes and all he kept saying was "well, if youve been evaluated before in these shoes that these are probably the right ones for you". I expected a professional evaluation of my gait while trying different shoes that will most likely affect my running in different ways. I did not get that. Finally, in frustration, I ended up buying the same shoes I had before even though I wanted something with more support (again, he didnt bring out anything that had higher arch support, no idea why) and I left. Sorry guys, this really sucked.

This is an excellent place to go for anything from running shoes to any kind of running apparel, running advice, and especially advice for how to get connected to local runners and running groups. Each store in the area (there are 7 in the greater DC/ Northern Virginia area) hosts weekly group social runs, which attracts runners of all speeds, abilities, and backgrounds. The staff are knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful The store also hosts a series of races ranging in distances from 5 ks to 10 milers and everything in between. The races are guaranteed to be well-organized, a good bang for your buck, very welcoming, and a great time. They are competitive but welcoming to runners of all experience and ability levels. I highly recommend checking out your local branch of Potomac River Running!

Im initially greeted by a lukewarm reception without any eye contact. Not a great start. I then ask if they have any "sale" shoes. The employee says he doesnt know what Im talking about. He says they have running shoes. We are finally able to clear up the confusion, but Im still treated like Im intruding on his hang time. Sorry for the inconvenience. I ended up leaving without even trying any thing on. In a time when I can have shoes delivered to my door the moment I shut my laptop youve got to be able to add something more than poor customer service.

Very helpful store! I wanted to get refitted for shoes after pregnancy & they have excellent customer service! They examined my gait & then pulled all the neutral size 9 shoes they carried. They patiently waited & listened to my thoughts on all the shoes until I found the pair that worked best for me. It was their patience & the fact they truly listened to me that earned them the 5 stars I gave them.

The girl who worked there was very patient with me. She brought out at least 8 pairs of shoes for me to try on until I was sure of the shoes I wanted. Even though I already told her I ran overpronation, she still evaluated me to trust but verify. A big plus in my book and I would go back again and recommend.

Its a great store with great staff. The staff are very knowledgeable and take their time making sure you get the right shoe. Theyll do a gait analysis and bring out as many shoes as necessary until you find the one that feels right for you. Ive been coming here for years and get all of my running gear here.

While as pricey as most specialty running stores, it is worth it. The staff takes an amazing amount of time to analyze your gait and work with you to find a pair of shoes that works for you. They also give back to area high school running programs and are a great part of the community.
