I have been going to Ground Zero for a long time; starting in my teen years. There are many things that have kept me coming to Ground Zero Comics over the years, but what sticks out the most is the way I have been treated over the years. Even from the first moment of me being a pesky teen they have always been welcoming. Taking the time to know me as a customer. Over the years this customer service has evolved as I got married and had children. This is a place I can bring my daughters and son and know that they are in a safe gaming environment that is nurturing the younger geek crowd. This is the premier place for my family to get out gaming and comics fix; along with a fantastic community of geeks that are second to none. You want comics I guarantee you will not find another with as large a selection in the East Texas area. They have comics and they know their comics. Countless times I have been advised on a comic to read, and not been disappointed. Again back to that whole; these folks take the time to get to know their customers. Looking for games Ground Zero has a huge selection of games; board-games, table-top,Magic the Gathering; minis (Gamesworkshop, Wizkids, Fantasyflight. If there is a mini they more than likely have it... and the best part; if they dont have the item you are looking for.. they will special order it for you!!! They have a great selection of Statues and action figures and novelty items. If you are looking for great people Dave and his family are it. If you are looking for the best community in the Tyler East Texas Area, this is the palace it is happening.. Ground Zero Comics. If you are looking for a place that will feed your inner geek.. Look no farther. Bottom line... Great people, passionate about the Comic and Game culture, friendly, and helpful. For me Quality matters, and this place has it! Why are you still reading.... Go see these guys now!!!

Back when I moved here I was looking for a friendly store that would be appropriate for my kids to come play games with me when I had an evening off. I tried this one third of three, as its the furthest away from me and just happened to be last of my stops. Dave, the owner, greeted me with a smile as soon as I walked in but didnt bother me as I wandered around the store looking to see what was available. When I had a question he answered to the best of his ability, but brought his son in for further details, since his area of expertise seems specialized in comics, not miniwargaming. His son was engaging, answered my questions with enthusiasm and seemed a likeable guy. There is a large dedicated area for gaming, and to my surprise there were people there painting miniatures, which is a good indication that this would fit my hobby needs. Against the wall was one of the best selections of miniatures Ive seen outside of a Games Workshop store, accompanied by a fully stocked paint rack. They also have a GW board set up against one wall, apparently all the time. There were two teenaged boys at one table who were being pretty vulgar, but a girl sitting nearby reminded them that this was a family appropriate store and that the tacky language wasnt welcome. They settled down quickly and went back to their game. The other two places had problems: the one by the mall was entirely unwelcoming, vulgar and smelled bad. The one on the south end of town seemed friendly, but they dont do miniwargaming. I feel that Ground Zero has earned my gaming dollar, not because they particularly were going out of their way to make me feel welcome, but because they seem like a welcoming playgroup and store. Family appropriate, clean, active gamers, massive selection, dedicated space for painting AND wargaming. Five stars. Jacob

I have known the owners of Ground Zero for well over 15 years & in that time I’ve grown to appreciate their hard work & dedication to making their store not only the premiere comic book/game shop in East Texas, but truly a place where the customer is valued above all other pursuits. For Dave & Tonya the goal has always been simple; provide excellent customer care in the hopes that their endeavor creates long term patronage. It is not enough to make a single sale (although those are nice!), but instead to garner a lifelong customer who shares a mutual interest in the items that Ground Zero has to sell. Their enthusiasm for comics & games is the very reason why I’ve chosen to do business with their company. When first I moved to Tyler my interest in comics was waning, but thankfully the Ground Zero was there to turn my attention towards the greatest of writers & artists I’d never heard of or read; for this reason alone I am grateful for their dedication to expanding the consumer’s interests & love for this hobby I enjoy. It’s a great store that they have, stockpiled with back issues, trades, comic, books, statues, cards, gaming tables, tournaments & more, but what makes Ground Zero so valuable to comic books fans & gamers are the people working behind the counter. Thanks Dave & Tonya!

This is a really good store. Tons of comics and collectibles. Board game selection is about what youd expect at most places. They are, however, STOCKED with expansions for CCG, LCG, Dice Masters, Heroclix, and X-Wing. There are no offensive smells here. There is limited gameplay space. However, what they have is pretty incredible (even if youre not into 40K its worth checking out their terrain). Plus they have signage telling you when you can come learn about games like Doomtown, etc. which is great if you like to watch it played first. It feels big, its bright, and parking works in their favor. Plus there are concessions available for those long afternoons in-store. SOLID 4 stars here. Worth the drive in if youre not in Tyler

Ive been collecting comics since a teen and have been coming to Ground Zero for majority of that time. Ground Zero lets you set up an account for all the issues that one may collect and they will hold those books back for you for whenever you stop in ( even if its a couple weeks before you come in ) and never miss an issue! It is a great setup for someone like me who lives outside of town and doesnt come in every week. Ive also occasionally inquired about a graphic novel or an older comic that I have wanted and Dave said he would find it for me and everytime that Ive showed up the next time after asking he had it waiting for me. Nice to have a good local comic store and not have to always order online or go to Dallas, 5 stars!!!

If you play MTG, and live in East Texas, then you should check this place out, ASAP! Friday Night Magic... Check, Pre-releases on new card sets... Check, MTG release parties... Check, good group of helpful players/competitive players... Check. Point being, if you are looking for a place to play MTG, you cant fail here. If your looking for comics, Manga, or other graphic novels then you got a double whammy! And if you are a D&D fan, well, then guess what.... TRIPLE Whammy! East Texas folks, Im telling you, this place is just plain accommodating! Nathan

The woman who answered the phone was very rude and had no interest in what I was saying. I believe she had her mind made up over what we were talking about before I could explain. She basically said if she cant make money off of what Im selling, she doesnt even want to look at it. She said she gets 10 calls a day over the same subject, implying that what I have to say is no different. She made sure to point out that they were busy and hurriedly talked the conversation to an end. Wont recommend and wont be checking it out.
