Spent $190 bucks on an RC car for my nephews birthday, took it home, downloaded instructions, so as not to open the packages. Charged battery as per those directions, installed batteries and tested vehicle on the carpet so that it kept a new appearance. Car went forward ok, but hesitated when trying to reverse. Tested multiple times to insure operation, adjusted as needed and per directions. Still car would hesitate or not operate in reverse when requested. Took car back to Hobbytown for exchange or upgrade, demonstrated two times failure. Their "tech" fiddled with it and said "looks ok to me", demonstrated failure again. Owner/manager came over and refused to exchange or upgrade me with new unit. All I wanted was an exchange or upgrade, they were not willing to work with me, were not willing to exchange or upgrade, refused my still new in a box unit for return / exchange. I have called my credit card company to reverse the charge for defective merchandise, and will never shop, step foot in, nor promote this hobby shop to anyone I know, or anyone who asks. Horrible customer service, sales team didnt sound as knowledged as I was expecting, just an over all bad experience, 1st time and last time customer. Disappointing, find another shop in town or just order from Amazon like so many others already do.

I came here because I couldnt find a damn screw for the front site on my handgun. Wouldnt have thought to look here if Google / yahoo answers hadnt helped. Radio Shack, Home Depot, Lowes, Gander Mountain and Academy couldnt help me. Couldnt even tell me the size of screw I needed. This was more of a shot in the dark and not only could they tell me what size was needed, but they had them in stock. They were for an R/C car, the head and body were a bit too long for my application, but after grinding it down on both ends, it works just fine. Again, I just came in looking for a screw, but after poking around, I found more than that. Always been interested in drones, so I figured Id look at what they had. Found two in my price range ($30-$50), looked up the reviews for them on Amazon, and ended up buying the Revell Nano Hexicopter ($39.99). They sold online for $10 less, but who wants to wait? Flew it all day yesterday, worked great, my family likes it too.

Its okay. There are a couple of enthusiastic employees who know what they are talking about but others just seem to be there because its their job. The customer service is sometimes a bit too good as some employees/ salesmen try to lure you into buying anything you glance at. If i were interested and had a question then I will ask. Do your reasearch before buying the more technical products because sometimes they will sell you what you ask for without informing or educating you about making a better decision and I dont think they allow returns. Its overall a great store for teenagers, kids and some adults. The train section is cool, the rc section is okay, the kid toys section is amazing and I really like the tools section as well. I gave it 3 stars because its not as good as it use to be many years ago but still lots of goodies for new comers.

Unfortunately today will be the last day that I visit this hobbytown most likely any other hobby town period! After shopping at this store for 5+ years the assistant manager refused to exchange a $25 item I had received as a gift. The item was was in new condition and in the original packaging, essentially brand new. But both the manager and the assistant manager stated "I dont want that..." hardly professional. Dont buy from here other than Phil there isnt one person who works there who has a clue or for that matter cares. My mother called it age discrimination I call it bad business. If this was the first time something like this has happened I might let it slide but after this especially so close to Christmas I regret spending a dime at this place; even RadioShack has a better policy.

Living in San Antonio for a few years, I finally became curious as to what Hobby Town offered... As soon as I walked in I became awe struck with things to do. After looking around, I spoke to a friendly person at the RC Airplane section, and decided to purchase a mini RC helicopter. Staff was friendly, and very helpful. As a novice I needed all the advice I could get. They helped me pick a very reasonable priced copter, and gave me a warning I may not be able to put it down. They were right! I cant put it down! After a few crashes, I returned to Hobby Town for replacement parts, and they were all in stock. Definitely worth taking the time to visit! I love the new mini helicopter I bought there! Thanks!

This store has a little of everything for any age and skill level. For the young hobbyist, there are Lego sets, clay sets, large puzzles and many more science and discovery focused fun things. Models to build for the beginner all the way up to expert movie-quality model kits. Slot car racing, calligraphy, drawing, painting and paper craft. Train sets for all levels of skill and dedication (and price ranges). Drones of all sizes and prices, with and without cameras. RC vehicles of all types and sizes. Too much more to include in this description. If you don;t have a hobby before you visit, you will before you leave.

Place has a good assortment of stuff. However, check the prices online first before you go. There way cheaper online and they dont tell you that and then you buy it in store at a huge markup. Also, I am new at this RC game and know nothing. I was to to make my rock crawler move faster I need to replace the 27 Turn motor with a 55 Turn motor. After getting home I put the motor on and it was way slower than the 27T. Thought something was wrong and started googling and found out what I needed was a 20T motor. If your going to recommend an upgrade, know what the hell you talking about.
