HORRIBLE. I went in for a routine eye exam to update my contacts and glasses, should have been pretty simple. I only saw the actual doctor for about 45 seconds - the rest of my exam was completed by a tech. Every member of the staff I encountered treated me like I was the biggest inconvenience to their day. I asked the doctor if I should even consider going through the process to be evaluated for LASIK and instead of answering my question with a professional opinion (like stating the fact that there have been massive improvements on the procedure and that its now possible to correct incredibly bad vision), she just told me Id have to make another appointment to do the evaluation and theyd answer my questions then. Then, when it came time to do my contact prescription, she insisted I try this new kind instead of the ones I had been using for years, they ended up being extremely uncomfortable (which is fine, everyone is different), but when I called to ask them to prescribe and order the style we knew worked well for me THEY WANTED ME TO COME IN FOR ANOTHER FREAKING APPOINTMENT. Im sorry, I cant stop my life for half a day every week so that you can charge my insurance company for office visits. I wouldnt recommend anyone go to this office. Ever. I ended up scheduling a LASIK evaluation with Mann and drove all the way in to their main office.It was a complete 180. Had the procedure within a week, and their office continues to value me as a patient. You deserve better than to subject yourself to the lousy customer service this office has to offer.

I had a very wonderful experience at Berkeley Eye Center. This was my first time going to a Berkeley Eye Center. I was extremely satisfied with my visit. A few things that set Berkeley Eye Center in The Shops apart from all other optometrists: 1. They have the most innovated and up-to-date technology, including a machine that allows you to skip the awful dilation process. Since I go back to work after my appointments, this was a really great for me! 2. Dr. Hollas was wonderful! Since I was diagnosed with astigmatism when I was 12, I have had doctors explain the condition to me, but I have never had a doctor show me, using the pictures of my very own eye. In addition, he showed my the pictures of the back of my eye and explained to me what each dark spot, shadow, and lines mean. It was truly a wonderful experience, and another reason I will be going back to Berkeley Eye Center. 3. The location is so convenient. Since I work in downtown Houston, it was so easy getting to the office. It took me less that 10 minutes to WALK to the office. 4. The office staff might be the nicest I have ever encountered. This is extremely important to me because I have stopped visiting doctors because the staff was not friendly to me. The fact that the staff was so welcoming and pleasant is another reason I will be going back to Berkeley Eye Center in The Shops. I will definitely be making my eye appointments here from now on.

I had a VERY positive first experience with Dr. Hollas and his staff. Everyone I spoke with was friendly and patient, and there was never an awkward moment throughout my appointment. The front desk staff chatted with me about the awful weather, the nurse was happy to answer my questions as she did each test, and she explained in detail about how my eyes looked (as opposed to the "they look fine" that most other nurses have given me). As for Dr. Hollas, he was both pleasant and efficient. He tested a couple of additional options with my prescription, and explained how my vision had changed compared to my current glasses. When I expressed concerns that I might not be a candidate for LASIK, he spoke in detail about the surgery and its limitations, and how it would work for me. Im really happy with this office, and I will definitely be coming back. If you live or work in this area, you should absolutely make Dr. Hollas your regular optometrist.

I have been a patient a this facility for about 7 years now... and counting! Staff is very friendly, helpful, and professional. Dr. Hollas is awesome and always ready to answer any questions I may have (no matter how silly they sound). He is very easy-going, great attitude, positive personality, and gives thorough eye exams. One big plus for me has always been the total amount of time I spend during my visits, which is typically one hour or less (this includes check-in and check-out times). Being that I work nearby, I always make my appointments during my lunch break... no need to take some extra "time off" from work. Overall, I love this place and my experience is always a positive one! I highly recommend this facility! Thanks Berkeley Eye Center Downtown Houston!

Convenient. Professional. Fast. I like that they are located in The Shops. Its easy to get to since I work in downtown. I was able to get a appointment with Dr. Hollas during my lunch break. He was able to answer all my questions, and get me in and out in one hour. I appreciate that very much! I was a little disappointed that I put in my contact order on a Thursday, they told me that it would be ready by Monday or Tuesday of the following week and that I will receive a call that it has arrived. The next Thursday comes around and I hear no call, so I decided to give them a call to check on status. Miraculously, my contacts are in and are ready for pick up. No big deal, but Id like it if they follow through with what they told me.

This was my first visit to this location, and I was very pleased with my experience. Dr. Alvin was very thorough and she made me feel at ease with the experience. I was there because I had been having some eye pain, and Dr. Alvin made certain she covered all of the avenues to exclude any serious issues. I was impressed with the state-of-the-art equipment and having the option to have my eyes dilated or pay an extra $39.99 for pictures of my eyes instead. I opted for the pictures because I needed to go back to work after my appointment. The extra payment was well worth the money!

have been a patient with this eye center for nearly 5 years and not once have I had any problems with this location. The staff greets you with a smile, they are very detailed in explaining the paperwork when signing in. Dr. Hollas staff is very professional and I enjoy each visit, we have never had to wait to long to be seen. Also this is very convenient for me and my husband, because we work downtown and the walk to this office is great. I would recommend anyone who works downtown to drop in and visit for a moment and meet the wonderful staff.

This was easily the best experience Ive had at an optometry clinic. From the moment I entered until the moment I left, the staff were pleasant, accommodating, and super professional. The doctor was terrific as well. She not only answered my questions, she actually volunteered information and made recommendations regarding contact lenses that proved extremely helpful during to my decision making process. Thanks for the great service! I believe Ive finally found the right place for all of my vision needs.
