I decided my eyesight was getting worse and made the decision to make an appointment for a consultation for Lasik Surgery with Lasik Vision Institute. The initial consultation was very thorough and respectful of my time. The appointment does take a little while because they take a few minutes to talk with you about what is going on with your eyesight and they do extensive testing of different areas of your eyes to make sure the prescription offered is a perfect match. After the evaluation - the team determines the best fit for you and you talk with one of the team members regarding the payment options and cost, as well as determining when you would like the service. I scheduled my surgery appointment and had a few questions. I had not read any of the reviews prior to the day of my surgery. I did go ahead and read the reviews- to see what others have reported and decided I would go ahead and proceed because the only negative comments really were due to the length of time for the completed process. I arrived at the office and signed in. The office personnel are so on task that I did not have to wait more than 5 or 7 minutes before being seen. Then, like the previous appt. - they reviewed the information and tested the eyes again for verification. I had Lasik 10 years prior on one eye and my procedure was a bit different because they were trying to decide to perform Lasik on one eye or both. So, I was given an opportunity to wear the prescription (like a pair of glasses) for a short time to see if that would work with my eyes - having one eye vs. both eyes. After the review of the different scenarios it was determined to do both eyes. Then I met with Dr. Joseph - AND any hesitation I had immediately went away. He was very professional, he knew exactly what my eyes were doing by looking at the notes and talked with me about what I was wanting and expecting. After our conversation, we proceeded to prepare for surgery. As I entered the surgery operating room, it was very comfortable, the operation team magnified the professionalism of Dr. Joseph and the operation began. Each step of the process was being communicated to me. In my situation - I had one eye with the Contoura Lasik Procedure and the other eye I had the PRK (that was the eye that I had previously had the Lasik on). I was treated very kind and with great care, the procedure took about 30 minutes for both eyes, maybe 40 - but when it comes to eyesight, I would rather them be intentional and exact than to rush you through. After my procedure, I was taken to the waiting area and asked to keep my eyes closed for a few minutes. I was then taken to the Dr. for review and to see how the surgery corrected my eyes. I AM SO AMAZED, I AM SO EXCITED ---my eyesight is 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in my other eye and the surgery was done less than 2 weeks ago. I did exactly as they told me to in the after post-operation instructions and have NOT HAD any discomfort or pain at all!!! I have to tell you I was nervous BUT THE WHOLE TEAM helps walk you through the procedure from START TO FINISH. MANY THANKS to Tress, Richard, Alonzo (I believe is his name) .... Melissa and Dr. M - the follow up eye dr. ( who WAS GREAT) and to ALL the staff, ANYWAY, ALL I can say is THEY ALL are very dedicated and know what they are doing. The time that it takes is WORTH anything when you receive your eyesight!!!! What factor can you place with that - that would be worth more? I give this office a 5+ because of the personal services offered and the care they give. I say YES!!!

My experience at the Lasik Vision Institute of Texas in Dallas was far from meeting my expectations. They have a HUGE lack of communication to the customers. Their lack of an assigned desk staff member causes customers to have to awkwardly wait at the desk when they come in. Once a staff member does come to the desk they are often not very helpful. After waiting an hour after my appointment time, I went up to the desk to ask if I could get an update on when my appointment would start. I was told "You do know youll be here for 3-5 hours, right!?" in a very condescending tone. I did know that. I read it on my paper work from the Lasik Institute but was not expecting it to take 3-5 hours just because they have you sitting in the waiting room for 3 of those 3-5 hours. I expected the 3-5 hours to be a worse case scenario since everyone else I know that has had the procedure at other providers were in and out in 30 min to an hour. Once I finally got out on the front waiting room, I was asked to wait another hour in the back waiting room. Then I was taken back to the surgery waiting area, given drops and told to keep my eyes closed. I then sat there with my eyes closed for another hour. My mother and I were told that once I went back to the surgery waiting area it would only be about 30 min. After an hour and half passed my mom started to get concerned. She asked a staff member for an update and again was told "Youll be here for 3-5 hours." As a mother this of course infuriated her. She demanded for them to go check on me. Needless to say the excess wait time and frustration over the lack of customer service from the staff left me extremely nervous for my surgery. Overall, this provider is a cattle call. I will advise anyone else interested to make sure that their provider has a doctor on staff all the time. I believe at this location the doctor only comes in on surgery days. They pack the schedule and make you wait while they line people up and do eye surgery on them. This was not the specialized or comfortable experience I was expecting and will not suggest this location to anyone else.

I had surgery on June 12th 2015. The staff was great. I went in for my consultation on the 11th. My appt was at 4 pm was there about 2 hrs which was what I was told. Everyone was pleasant. I felt like I understood the procedure the risks everything. When I came in for my surgery the next day everyone remembered my name. I had a quick check in time they double checked all the measurements. I didnt feel like a number. I felt reassured the entire time. I was there on my surgery day for about 5 hrs to the T. This is exactly what I was told time wise. There is alot of waiting but its for your own good resting the eye waiting for drops to take effect ect. I had a Groupon for 699 per eye worked perfectly. I had a VERY STRONG PRESCRIPTION with astigmatism. I am very pleased with my results. I would recommend this facility to anyone. I can see very well 20/20! I go in for another follow up on the 29th! I feel great no pain, no dry eye. Its wonderful. I wish I had done this sooner. For the record I also did the consultation with Tylock, Key Whitman, and kieman Evangelista still went with LVI. UPDATE 9/10/15 I have been in for several (6) follow ups. I have 20/15 in my left. My right is 20/30. They are looking into maybe doing an enhancement on it bc they believe it too can be 20/15. Love it. Best decision I have made. UPDATE 10/9/2015 They changed the type of pressure drops I was using in my right eye. Im here today to get with Dr George and see if that helped enough to where I wont need an enhancement. I still dont feel like cattle and I havent had to wait more than maybe 20 mins everytime I have been in. I have noticed though that maybe it your attitude has something to do with speed of being seen though. I have been in the waiting room and noticed that whiney people or people who seem unsure tend to wait longer. Will post more as I know more. I know that getting this surgery I did a lot of research and the comments section is also what made me second guess or postpone doing anything for myself. I dont want anyone else to have the same dilemma.
