On Monday afternoon, I stopped in to pick up a few things, got into the express lane as the next customer....the young cashier was finishing up with the customer ahead of me. However, she could not identify the last item in the shoppers selection, and the customer didn[t seem to be able to help her. The cashier finally got the attention of a supervisor roaming the front aisle, and he called out over his shoulder something that sounded like batota and kept moving. The frustrated cashier got out her little book and began to peruse the b items to no avail. It was obvious that she was in distress; in the meantime, there was another supervisor (this one seemed to be the big cheese white shirt & all) standing at the next station chatting with another cashier. Finally after several minutes, I said loudly "Can we get some help over here?" and the supervisor grudgingly came over and gave the cashier the correct information, then returned to his conversation with the other cashier. So my cashier completed the transaction, and then could not give the customer the correct change for some reason. She timidly called out several times that she needed help but the supervisor had left the area by then, and the other cashier now just standing there pointedly ignored her. She just flipped her hand and shook her head when the cashier asked her for help again. I said "you need to help her" and she replied that she couldnt leave her station. EXCUSE ME...you have customers waiting in line now for fifteen minutes and you refuse to expedite their checkout. Her excuse was that they were short staffed due to a staff meeting. Well, with this kind of customer service, they wont have to worry about staff meetings for long because they wont have any customers. I left without my merchandise (which would have rung up for about $30). Mark off this long time loyal customer.

Where do I start... We went to Fiesta because of its reputation for a wide variety of food and we wanted to make some escargot. When we came into the store we were immediately struck by how poorly the store was merchandised, but whatever. Then we went to the meat section to find some fresh snails but couldnt find any. While there we saw some live crabs in plastic bins. They were sitting on top of one another in about an inch of water. Im pretty sure live sea food shouldnt be sitting in open air for long period of time, just saying. Then a worker came over with a box of more crabs and allowed them to climb out of the box smashing on the floor. Then he took to pouring the box of crabs from an excessively high height so that they pulverized the already miserable crabs at the bottom. Because the crabs were crammed in the box so tightly there was one crab that was stuck in the box. The employee took to bashing at it to knock it free, when that didnt work he took out a knife and stabbed it to death. After that scene I decided to get what I came for and leave. I asked an employee where I could find it but they didnt speak English. I asked another who got annoyed at me because it wasnt his department. I then asked another who also didnt speak English. Finally, while standing in an isle of knocked over cans we decided to put everything back and go to HEB like we should have in the first place. Zero stars!

Worse cash registers. I have been shopping here for years but lately, checking out has he been very unpleasant. They either throw your groceries around and arent careful or like today, you get kicked out of line. All the registers (all four) were full and I had almost 17 things, that is including 5 my sister had in my cart that she was paying separately with her own money for herself. So I said why not Im going to the 15 items or less... before I set anything the lady on that register (#2) very rudely pointed out that I couldnt be on that lane, I tried explaining that I only had 17 items but those were divided between two shoppers. Her response, yeah but you still have to get out of my register....very rude of her. I wouldnt of even been on that register waiting if it werent that the other registers were full with people with carts full of food. I decided not to argue with her and went to another lane. 30 mins later I was able to pay for my things, but no earlier than the man waiting behind me, given that the manager or whatever she was, opened another register and checked him out before us. Definitely not the best service weve had.

Fiesta celebrates diversity through food that is often difficult to find anywhere else in town. Theres a section in the store where the goods are organized according to country, and its like walking around the world in that little island of imports. Fiesta focuses on Latin American foods, as their name suggests, and they offer a full range of groceries so I can find everything i need along with my masa flour and exotic life-changing chilis. Yet they also carry various Japanese teas and edamame, English teas, Greek yogurt, and candy to tease the sweet tooth of any ethnicity. Fiesta takes shopping to a new level, and Im constantly broadening my horizons there. BTW, dont shop hungry -- try some elote from the truck out front.

There isnt a category for "variety," for that I would rate them Excellent. I wouldnt suggest that people use Fiesta as their weekly grocery store (their milk and meat dont inspire confidence), but they do have a great variety of food. Their vegetable selection is much more extensive and often fresher than the nearby HEB. They have a good variety of hot peppers, a number of varieties of banana-like offerings, and a bunch of fruits and vegetables that I’ve never tasted before. The other big plus with Fiesta is their international food section (which is right next to the produce). They have a much better selection of spices, noodles, sauces, and prepackaged ethnic foods than most other grocery stores.

Love the produce and thats pretty much all I buy here. If youre a fan of mexican food, they sell the cheapest produce to make it. Tomatillos and avocados are always under a buck, and the jalapenos are practically free. And chicken quarters for 37 cents!! If you think its "dirty", apparently its completely superficial, because I have never been sick from anything I bought here. Ive never had a problem with the staff, and I dont speak Spanish. But then again I could care less about customer service. That guy that says good bye to you when you leave HEB should be fired. What a useless job!

Fietsa might have higher prices for things like Morningstar frozen veggie items... however the international section of the stores has made this the best places to get things you cant find in somewhere like Whole Foods or HEB (at least at the prices they offer here). Its open 24 hours, and is easy to get to. Id lock your car door, or lock up your bike/scooter while youre inside. Ive seen some sketchy looking people hanging out in the parking lot. If youre there at the right time, youll see the Skittles car- which for some reason is pretty amusing to me.

Pretty much Mexican heaven. Im hispanic and if youre hispanic or just love some south of the border essentials then this is the place to go. I love their huge selection of mexican soda and the pan dulce (sweet bread). The carneceria (butcher) has a lot of cuts and selection that you cant find anywhere else. This is also a good place to get some Sunday morning barbaqoa. Its delicious! Even if thats not your thing they have an amazing selection of deliciousness to choose from in their cafe. There are some things youll only be able to find at Fiesta.
