Definitely my favorite liquor store in Nashville. The store has style and it has taste, and it somehow subtly makes me feel great about spending more and more money every time I go in. They are indeed a "Wine Merchant" as the label would suggest, and they seem to do a bang-up job of making that work. A pretty great selection arrayed in really nice light hardwood racks, their stuff ranges from light $10 bbq-and-backporch wines to $200+ sit-in-your-cellar luxuries. Theyve got a little of everything, and are careful not to fill their racks with 867,7898,230947 different subtle varieties of cabernet at the expense of leaving out lesser-known varietals and blends. I also like the 6 for $60 special thats great for stocking up on wine to have on hand for dinners, or the aforementioned bbqs! But really, what the hell do I know about wine?? Where this place really shines in my opinion is the beer and liquor offerings. (And the style, yes, the style. Did I mention it just *looks* cool in there??) Its *the* place in town to find obscure cocktail ingredients. While Midtown or other places might have a lot as well, you dont have to spend your precious time poking through a ton of cramped shelving to find what you need here. While far from a copious selection, the liquor shelves are expertly curated, eschewing your 40K varieties of candy-flavored vodka for some really fine spirits along with very reasonably-priced standbys. The knowledge level matches the selection, and if theres an ingredient youre curious about, theyll likely have a good idea what to do with it, or at the very least a thoroughly detailed description of the product. If by chance you *dont* find what you need, theyre also happy to do special orders down to the individual bottle. Orders arrive quickly, are announced by a friendly phone call, and will have your name affixed in a very fashionable personalized stamp when you come to pick up. They dont skimp on service. Beer selection is great, so far as Tennessee goes, and they do what they can to get some of the more interesting varieties available into your hands. Of course their hands are tied by distribution patterns and our arcane legalisms, but they know whats good, and theyre doing what they can to get you the best, or your favorite, or some wonderful combination thereof. If theres a drawback to Woodland, its only that the staff tends towards the hipster and dour and might not be the most approachable bunch for a lot of folks. They wont bite, but Ill admit, I do hesitate to ask the same questions I might at Green Hills Wine, where the boisterous helpfulness virtually oozes. Theyre a nice enough lot to banter with on a slow day though, and in spite of the staff fitting in seamlessly with the trendiness of the decor, they are a helpful bunch and certainly have never given me the feeling that I wasnt cool enough for their store. And trust me, Im not cool enough for *anyones* store. ; )

A review from a whiskey guy who doesnt know anything about wine: Woodland not the biggest liquor store in the area but that just means they dont have ten isles of budweiser or cheap swill booze that comes in plastic bottles. What you will find instead is a smaller but well curated stock of fine beer and spirits. The main theme here is quality over quantity. Its a boutique shop but that means they also have time to care about the fine details. Youll find lots of nice finishing touches like custom labels on their bags and price tags attached by string instead of stickers. The staff is extremely friendly and incredibly accommodating - much more so than youll find at the larger "warehouse" type stores. I also hear they know a thing or two about wine, so theres that as well.

While looking for the nearest liquor store we found this place on google -- when we walked in we thought we were in the wrong place- looked too nice - we were just looking for a bottle of whiskey! WE were surprised that they werent overpriced! Ill be back there, but for wine next time.

Terrific selection and great prices. They separate their wines in a much more convenient way here, more by region and by price, rather than type. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly; their suggestions have never steered me wrong, no matter what price range I was looking for.

Small store with a dense collection of quality wines and liquor. Knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. Nice collection of amaros. If you are an amateur mixologist you owe it to yourself to pay them a visit. Free parking is adjacent to building.

An aunt was in town and mentioned she was having a hard time finding Innis and Gunn beer. We stopped by Woodland Wine and the gentleman who helped us was able to order the beer, and have it ready for pickup the next day.
