Excellent up close and personal behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing process of Gibson guitars. While the tour seemed rushed, I did not expect to be able to come that close to the manufacturing process. Kudos! Warning: If you want to hear everything being said, place yourself in front of the speakers when the guide uses the microphone; the manufacturing process will be loud in certain production areas. A few criticisms about our tour guide, Kyle, which a little more practice and experience can rectify. Kyle was very knowledgeable but extremely repetitive in his manner of delivery. • Too many nervous habits! Stop fidgeting with your hair, rubbing your hands together and, above all, constantly checking the time on your watch. No one wants to feel ill at ease or rushed during a tour. • Too many unnecessary preambles! Stop saying, "if you will," "that being said" ad nauseum. You are knowledgeable, now show us your professionalism. Gibson: You really should groom your tour guides a tad more. If the tour were free, Id be much more forgiving.

Offering customers the opportunity to see and play practically every current Gibson model available. Also, if youre from out of state and purchase a guitar, they give you the option of shipping your purchase to you. Which saves you quite a bit on local sales tax. I visit this "candy shop" every chance I get, probably a dozen times over the past 10-15 years, including several times during the extremely crowded Beale St. Music Festival. Ive always been greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff that were happy to answer questions or look up a price. A visit to the Gibson Store is like heaven for most guitarist and its a great place to cool down after walking (or staggering) around Beale St. Besides, where else can you just walk up and grab a $25,000 guitar, plug into a 5150 stack and jam a few chords without getting your ass yelled at, or thrown out?

What a disappointment! Disappointing especially because this had SO much potential. And yet went unexploited. The factory, you can easily see, has good infrastructure and scope. But our tour guide was so machine-like. Im certain high-schoolers do a better job off reciting a memorized speech. The speech wasnt very comprehensive either. The factory is loud. So the guide uses a mic through the tour. But you can STILL barely hear a word. Maybe Id the narrator isnt so muffled, you have a better chance. This factory had so musical, informative, engineering, and mechanical value. What a pity, the way the tour is botched up. If noise is the issue, I can easily think of several alternate ways to communicate with the tourists effectively, starting with a pair of headphones per tourist - a simple solution. Come on Gibson, you can do way better!

Great tour guide, and shop to check out some guitars. I wish I remembered her name to give a great review! Violin player, big hair, great personality! I would have liked it if there was some history of Gibson added to the tour; self guided, a short film of the Gibson history, a hall with photos and history info. Something more than me checking Wikipedia when I left. Worth a stop even if you are not a guitarist, and I am not.

We took a tour of the guitar factory on a Sunday afternoon. The tour fills up quickly so book ahead or show up early. It was a cool and very educational trip for those who are into guitars. However, because we went on a weekend, we basically did a walk-through of an empty factory and didnt get to watch any guitars actually being made (which is a bummer). I would like to try this tour again on a weekday someday.

Cool to see the factory but there was no mention of the history, the mystique, the *WHY* of Gibson and their amazing role in Rock n Roll. Tour was intriguingly boring and when I asked questions on history the guide basically said, "google it." Granted we went on a Saturday so we couldnt even see the luthiers. It should definitely be cheaper on weekends if they wont add value by other means.

I came here recently and was only able to spend a short amount of time here, mainly in the shop itself. I wasnt able to view the factory, but it looked awesome and Ill have to come back to see it all. The shop was well stocked with different Gibson items to purchase: shirts, guitars, picks, etc. Staff was very nice and the entire building was immaculately clean.

This is a factory floor tour. We happended to go on their yearly shut down of the production but it was still a bit noisy. So Im guessing it would be really hard to hear the guide on production days, but amazing to see the employees at work. Our tour guide was weird and we didnt get any information about the companys history... Pictures are not allowed there.

Awesome tour! Took a friend of mine here during the inventory count. It was amazing and a must if you are into music/music history. We got to see Slashes guitar, van Halens guitar and many many others (honestly too many to count). Crazy part was we even got to hold some of these pieces of musical history. It was a great tour and I would and will do it again!

We were looking for something to do, and stumbled in to this place... This was a very educational tour,, where you are taken around the actual factory floor, as you watch workers hand make Gibson guitars. You are given safety glasses, and taken on to the factory floor. The tour guide was great, and answered all our questions.

This is a really cool place if you like music or guitars ! It is really neat to see them building guitars. Take the tour it is well worth it ! They crack a few jokes at fender guitars using the scraps they toss out and explain what the guys are doing as you walk through the factory. Its something cool to see for sure.

This is like a dream come true, taking the tour of the factory. Its not often things are hand-made in America anymore and here you can actually go in and see people making the guitars that made electric blues, rock and roll and country famous. The tour guides are knowledgeable and very friendly.

When they say "Reservations are recommended", they mean better make a reservation! Since my husband is a luthier we planned to make this part of our summer road trip, but when we arrived the tour was sold out for the day. So disappointed since this was our only day in Tennessee.

We took the tour of the factory it was later on in the day. The guide was informative and gave great information about the guitar making process. Just got the feeling like he did not want to give the tour. It was lacking some excitement.
