I give Clothes Mentor a 4 star rating because they do have some really nice clothes at reasonable prices. However I think there could be more consistency on the buying/selling side. I brought in a bunch of Rue21 clothes, in excellent condition (worn only a few times, and under 2 years old) thinking they would be excepted because they sell forever21 clothes in the store. But the lady I talked to said they dont except junior brand clothes. When I asked her if there was a reason why they except forever21 clothing but not Rue21 clothing she answered, "well forever21 has womens clothes too, Ive shopped there." Yes they have young womens clothing, but so does Rue21...and having previously been a manager for Rue21 for 4 years I can definitely tell you that while they Cater to juniors (as does forver21) they do sell womens styles and sizes, and Ive seen numerous women (many age ranges) find age appropriate clothing there. The two stores also have the same size ranges. Im not saying they have to except my Rue21 clothing, but maybe not excepting forever21, and having more consistency in what they except would be better if theyre wanting to keep a certain style/quality in their store. Hope this feedback is helpful, and would be glad to hear back if theres just something Im not understanding. :)

Dont bother trying to sell here. Despite reading other reviews on here and google I decided to try this place out and the bad reviews are so on point. This is not the place to go if you have worthy items to sell. I delivered 3 bins full of Lilly Pulitzer, JCrew, Vera Bradley and specialty boutique items from when I lived in Charleston (valued $60+ per item)--some still with tags attached!! It took a day to go over my stuff (as expected) but I never got a call telling me it was ready for pick up so finally the next day an hour before close I stopped by....They took maybe 10 items and offered me $20. Later as they handed my items to me they tried to give me a pair of shoes that didnt belong to me...luckily I am an honest citizen who I told them of their mistake, but it makes me wonder how many of those "misplaced items" there really are. What a waste of time and energy! Youll make more at a garage sale or stick to Poshmark and other selling apps. Do not bother trying to go here. Head the warnings and bad reviews you have read. Very disappointed in this experience.

I took 8 items of clothing in to be considered to sell. The young lady who took my items told me it would be about 15 minutes so I told her I would stay and browse, signed a form that its okay to text me or call when ready and stayed . All the items except for a pair of pants were on hangers and freshly pressed. The pants were pressed and folded. Now I know that they cant possibly return everyones items like they brought them but I was IN THE STORE . ...45 minutes later I asked if they needed more time as I can come back. The young lady looked up my ticket and apologized telling me they were done and that while I had some really nice items they exceeded their two year limit and they cant use them. Every one of my 8 pieces were individually balled up and put in a bag with the hangers thrown in with them, wrinkled to pieces! I WAS IN THE STORE for 45 minutes! What process do they use to date the items that requires all to be bunched up to evaluate and squished into a bag?

I stopped by on three trips to shop and to inquire about selling. I took in approximately 20 pieces all in good condition, some with tags still on them and was told only three items could be purchased for a total of $3.24. Liz Claiborne pants, Sag Harbor (never worn shirt) and one other item. What a waste of my time. When I look at what is hanging on the racks and what was turned away I can only conclude that they are experiencing very bad cash flow problems. Items I saw hanging looked more than "slightly worn", saggy synthetic sweaters, Belks in house labels like Kim Rogers, etc. If you are thinking about selling, dont spend a lot of time checking the clothes out...its a real crap shoot on what they will accept. This consignment for selling just isnt worth your time and I would go to Goodwill for as good or better quality clothing with a much better price. Also there are two very good high quality consignments for buying in the Augusta Rd area.

I was totally disappointed in my experience. I took a bag of clothes in, most brand new with tags from brands ranging from Express, Old Navy, Ann Taylor to Boston Proper along with a Coach purse that was like new and jewelry from brands like Lucky, Kenneth Cole and Fossil. I was told that they were impressed with the variety of my higher end brands but they were not selling those brands well right now. Ridiculous! Especially when the one top they offered to give me $2.50 for was a mock velvet turtleneck that was brand new with tags and retailed for $79. Plus the girls in the store overall are not very nice. Next time Ill drive to Fashion Shack in Easley. Worth the drive where they not only take my clothes, but they are always so sweet to deal with everytime!

I have taken clothes to this shop a few times. I suppose that they may have a couple of different employees who assess your items to determine whether they are "good" enough to buy. I have disappointed more than once and have come to the conclusion that I wont be shopping here again. There is an obvious "double standard" in how they pick what to buy from you. I have found shoes for instance that are in worse shape than anything that I ever took there, but they have declined my offerings. What a business - where they can pay you little of nothing, and turn around a make a lot on your clothes. Id rather make my purchases at a good discount store, than shop here - or ever take a chance again on being declined.

Called twice before driving all the way over and no one answered. Lugged my big basket of clothes in to sell only to be told they were done buying for the day. Buying ends at 7pm, it was 7:01. Asked if I could leave my basket there for them to buy tomorrow, nope -- I would have to bring it back between 10am and 7pm tomorrow. The only reason I gave 2 stars was because 1 of the 2 girls was apologetic. I drove directly to Goodwill to donate my clothes because Id rather Goodwill get them for free than Clothes Mentor get money for them. Wont be returning here.

They have tons of MK and Coach bags...however...most have stains or markings on them and they are still high dollar. I think they price the items based on brand rather than the condition of the item it is. Plus size is lacking. The items they did have...most had piling on the shirt and looked like it had been in the dryer 100 times. Overpriced at $8-$10 an item. Can find the same clothes at Goodwill. The employees were friendly though,I give them that.
