I really wanted to like this place. Id had a poor fitting at Nordstrom a few weeks ago and decided that I should use it as an opportunity to visit a few specialty shops that specialized in bras of all sizes and fittings. A quick flip on the internet brought me to Hope Chest, which had wonderful reviews. So I drove the 90 minutes into the Philly suburbs to take a visit. I had no clue that this place was so small. Two employees plus two customers equals a crowd. I browsed for a few minutes before one of the two employees decided to ask me if they could help. I explained my fitting at Nordstrom, she had a "tsk tsk" face, and then proceeded to measure me over my shirt. And just a band measurement. She then determined my size, and handed me two bras - one lined, one padded. They might have had two other bras in my exact size, so there was definitely not a lot of selection. The lined one wasnt quite right, and the padded one was a style that I currently own but threw out because it didnt hold up. I asked about other options, and the lady looked at me like I was crazy. She swore that they only carried one style of one brand in a push up bras. This is a bra store?!?! How in the world does that work?!?! Then she decided that perhaps I really was a different size, and handed me the same band size in a smaller cup, and a smaller band size with the same cup. I really liked the second one but it was a bit snug. I took it out and mentioned "hey, this is the right amount of padding - I thought you said you didnt carry anything in between" and she just kind of shrugged. Asked about a 34A in it - shrug. Didnt offer to order me the correct size - just told me that they would probably restock over the next few weeks and I could come back in. That was a pretty disappointing response when I told her that I had driven 1.5 hours to visit. Im not going to drive back down in hopes that you have something. Their site says that they offer 32AA-40DDD and will order items as well - beware that they had very limited stock on smaller sizes when I was there. When I was browsing, they literally had one 32AA and one 34AA. Id call before you go and verify how much inventory they have. I maybe wouldnt have left so aggravated if they would have offered to order me what I was looking for. They did have a quite beautiful selection of lingerie but I was pretty miffed about the poor bra fitting experience and their lack of customer service and just skipped it. Voting with dollars, I suppose. Maybe if you are a more average size, or dont need any help, this would be a good option? But I thought the whole point of a bra fitting lingerie shop was that they were good at these things...

I am very busty and very hard to fit. I have been fitted in big cities such as new york, LA, even philadelphia and have had no luck finding a comfortable but pretty everyday bra. I finally stumbled in the Hope Chest while shopping with my mom over my xmas break and had an amazing experience. They had a huge selection of bras ranging from 32A-42DDD. When they didnt have a certain style in my size they said they could order it for me right away without question. I especially liked how they werent too pushy or aggressive. They gave their opinion on what bras were right for me and what bras were not. Hope Chest is the best place to find the right bra for you!

Hope Chest is a staple for stylish lingerie shoppers. They have an excellent selection of both American and European brands in hard-o-find sizes. They offer walk-in fittings and scheduled appointments. Special Occasion? Everyday bra? You can find them both.
