We visit laudermilchs occasionally for meats and deli items. I have always felt their prices seemed higher than most other butcher shops in the area. I had called in to check to see if I could get some beef fat from them to be picked up on the next day. I was going to be making some venison hamburger and I like to mix beef fat into it since the venison is very lean. I had gotten fat various times from other shops in the area (Pronios in Hershey and Darrencamps in Elizabethtown). I had always asked "how much do I owe you and the answer was always, no charge!" This was not the case at laudermilchs. When I went to pick up the Order, I was amazed to not only see a charge but the cost per lb was $1.49!!! I was shocked!!!! If they want to charge for FAT, then make it something reasonable. Are you serious? $1.49 for chunks of beef fat that you would most normally throw in your rendering barrel? When I questioned DENNIS Laudermilch, he stated that they use the fat to make stuff..... Hmmmmm. I stated that I would never again visit their place of business again. Their prices are not only outrageous but they are also greedy. No more business from this person.

My husband bought chicken thighs on Thursday to grille on Friday for company over Labor Day weekend. The chicken was so spoiled when he opened it, he almost vomited. He had to go to a real food store to get a replacement and was highly embarrassed. The dating system is beyond understanding. We saw fish that was 8 days old. Never will we go there again. How long would you leave food in your fridge 3-4 days. They have things that are up to 10 days old. Look at the dates if you can figure out how to read them.

We shopped regularly at Laudermilch for over 20 years when we lived in the Lebanon valley. We restock now from time to time when we are back in the area. We especially like their smoked ham!!
