I have shopped at PCL for some years and would have rated it highly until yesterday. My wife, 75 years old, bought over $100 worth of liquor there and was treated shabbily. The clerk was loath to help her find a particular brand, grumbled about her credit card, and let her carry out a heavy box of liquor with no help, not even so far as to open the door, so that she had to put the box down on the floor, open the door, hold it with her foot, pick up the box again and carry it to the car, some distance off. We will think very carefully before shopping there again. I hope the owner stops this sort of behavior by employees and continues to be successful.

The staff here is always very helpful and friendly. I came in today with a list of items I needed: some specific, some not. I was helped find items that fit my budget and given honest recommendations. There was no pressure to spend more than I liked or buy things that I wasnt interested in, which was critically important to me. I always feel very comfortable and welcome in this liquor store and will definitely continue visit it even if I no longer near as close as I do currently.

One of the best liquor stores in town, and more convenient than the other downtown liquor stores because it offers off-street parking. The new owner (since summer 2012) is as friendly and helpful as the original owners (Elsie & Dorsey). Make sure to ask for recommendations and hell occasionally pull out some limited quantity items from the back room.

The staff here are absolutely wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Free tastings most fridays are a good way to feel grateful about being off of work. Not much in the way of accessories or hard to find stuff, pretty small place, but they got the basics, which includes so very many wonderful kinds of cheap whiskey.

I just watched them kick out a 50+ year old tourist because he didnt have "American" ID. The guy was completely reasonable but confused. Im 40 and they didnt card me so i know they dont have to card everyone. I usually dont jump to conclusions but it seemed pretty xenophobic to me.

Open on Sundays, reasonable prices, very clean, very nice and helpful staff, and a great selection for a store of its size. And its one of the few "nice" liquor stores downtown - without being a rip-off. Whats not to love?
