Two years ago I did a complete kitchen remodel and went to A-Boy on Broadway for fixtures. After much deliberation I chose a Mico faucet in antique bronze ($600) and got the matching drain flange ($94) they set me up with. I was thinking at the time they didnt really seem to know their inventory well and I shouldve went with my instincts. The finish on the faucet chips off every time someone knicks it with a pot or pan and its next to impossible to get the faucet to turn on part way while doing dishes. After three months the finish on the flange was rapidly wearing down. I figured Id just have to deal with the faucet, but I kept meaning to take the flange back and after a year and two days (oops, year warranty) I took it back. About half the finish had worked itself off by then. The guy in charge there is either named Ben or Scott, I forget which, but he was a total jerk. He asked what I had been cleaning it with. "Soap", I said - truthfully. He said I must have been using caustic cleaners, scrubbing it, etc. Nope. He said there was nothing he could do about it anyway since the warranty was up. I told him I bought over $2k worth of stuff from him for my kitchen and would appreciate any help they could give me. Eventually he agreed to have someone call the producer and see if there was anything that could be done - this after a fair amount of arguing and implying that I am a liar. Well, I never heard back from them. I actually remembered the same guy having a phone argument about a similar problem the previous year while I was making my purchases. Another clue I should have taken notice of. . . This past year I went to the A-Boy on Barbur for a bathroom remodel and after telling the salesperson there about my kitchen troubles, she said she never recommends Mico faucets because they just arent worth the price tag in terms of reliability. She also says she tries to steer people away from the antique bronze finishes, especially in the kitchen because they just dont last. They look nice when someone installs them and puts a house on the market, but they go quick in a well used kitchen and who wants to replace a drain flange? So there you have it - it feels good to vent since since I get ticked off every time I do dishes in my otherwise gorgeous kitchen!

These guys are great. They help me plan a large plumbing project using PEX then they loaned me the tool, so I didnt have to buy it myself. And I got lots of great advice, including to stay away from the plastic PEX joints and use the brass. Im glad I did, I think its going to be much more durable. I had to take back a ton of stuff ( just standard over buying, due to home amateur knowledge) when I was done, and they did it with zero complaints!

I would go to this A-Boy often when I lived in Hollywood. In fact, I still call the Hollywood location for pricing and availability when I need some info even though I live in far-out SW now. Everybody is nice, theyll order almost anything you need, and if the person you are speaking with doesnt know how to help, theyll get somebody who can help you. I think there is one grumpy dude with bad breath, but even he is helpful and kind, just grumpy.

I like em. Quality tools and materials at a reasonable price, and right in the neighborhood. Have to go to Parkrose Hardware, otherwise. Staff is friendly and helpful, with just the right amount of help me, but leave me alone, too. If I have a question, Im answered in a friendly way. Otherwise, they dont try to sell me stuff I dont want.

Waiting for my husband to text me back about measurements for a project- i parked and in the parking lot (and got out of my car) a surly man rushed out immediately and told me I couldnt park in the lot. I told him I was a customer and he told me to park across the street..... Found a parking spot at home depot.

Its nice to have a store I can walk to when I just need a few screws or whatever. The employees are OK but not super-knowledgeable (e.g., when I was looking for a new thermostat for my furnace nobody had any clue what the differences between their models were).

Ive been a customer for years. Local, friendly staff, product stock is intermittent. Still my Goto for repair parts. They are always willing to help. I start here before the Orange Box trek, or Plumbing Wholesalers.
