Prices are laughably absurd, 40-80% higher than New Frontier Market on W. 8th and Van Buren, and in some cases 2-3 times higher than the Red Apple, two and a half blocks away. Ill stop by occasionally if I need something organic that Red Apple doesnt have, but only if its one thing and only because I live a few blocks away. Dont even get me started on the way they price their "day-old" items. Seen them cleaning ice crystals off of thawed and refrozen frozen products on multiple occasions. Ive been a resident of the neighborhood for the last 7 years, and on and off for 20, and I have no idea how Red Barn stays in business with the prices they have. My theory is that its a combination of exploitative pricing aimed at SNAP (food stamp) shoppers who are often less concerned about prices and the few more affluent residents of the neighborhood. Ask around if you dont believe me. Most people that live here dont shop there. P.S. Im a little puzzled how one reviewer could "not see what the big deal about price" is. Im suspicious that this review is written by an affiliate of the store? I dont know how else anyone could defend them when all you have to do is pick 8-9 items and comparatively shop at other neighborhood stores to see how ludicrous their pricing is. P.S.S. Im going to keep an eye on this review section over the next few months. If I see anymore shilly/shady looking reviews, I am going to invest the time to take comparative photos of prices at all three neighborhood stores and post them on my Google + page. Getting a little hot with local businesses giving lip-service to the neighborhood and walking all over the residents.

Not even 1 star!! Worst customer service and dishonest employees. My very first time in there I asked an employee to fill a bulk container with coconut aminos only to later find out it was Braggs (which had an allergen Im avoiding) and that they charged me for the significantly higher price of the coconut aminos as well. 2nd time was in the Deli. I ordered a smoothie, sandwich, and cup of soup. Handed the cashier my card, waited 5 minutes for them to hand it back.. at this point I want to go outside and sit so I figure they would bring it out with my food and receipt as well. Smoothie comes out later as well as JUST THE RECEIPT that he asked me to sign. 20 minutes pass by, sandwich is not ready. I went back inside to grab it, sat back down for 5 minutes to realize he didnt get me my soup. I got my soup, sat back to realize I never got my card. I go back in, what is it? A fourth time? Say hey I need my card back. He said it was on the clip board I handed to you. It wasnt. So At this point I ask for a refund and told them that they were all very distracted even though it was not that busy and that it was not my fault the card disappeared because it was never handed back to me. Im going to be brash right now, but Im pretty sure the guy handling my whole transaction and food was stoned or something. Why else would someone be so forgetful, incompetent, and handle someones CREDIT CARD in a negectful manner? Never, ever coming here again. I suggest going to The Kiva, Market of Choice, Natural Grocers, anywhere but here.

Ive been coming to the Red Barn for a year, since moving to Eugene, and definitely appreciate the atmosphere and organic foods. Produce is usually high quality and fresh, and the deli and coffee bar in the back offers some delicious soups,(carrot yam ginger is my favorite), sandwiches(shitake & sesame tempeh is da bomb! super fresh ingredients and the best sandwiches ive had in Eug), and when they have it the blueberry raspberry hazelnut milk. sooooooooo gooood! Oh, cant forget about the coconut bliss sundae bar, some offerings are chai vanilla bliss shake, my favorite milkshake combo is dark chocolate and mint galactica with rice milk.

They were renovating last spring/summer so if you havent been recently, give it another shot. Im not sure why they are considered pricey. They have the same prices as any other local all natural and mostly organic store. They have excellent produce, always fresh. Their kitchen utilizes seasonal ingredients to whip up tasty dishes. They have a better bulk section now and have more to offer in general. They also have excellent wine options.

Great atmosphere and staff. Everyone is very nice and accommodates your request. Their selection of goods is great for a small store and their prices are a lot lower than one would expect. I grew up in eugene and now live elsewhere and I cant believe it took me till now to finally step foot inside. Regretful.

Ive been going here for 4+ years. The staff is alway friendly and the service is always good. Prices are a bit high, and thus the 4 stars instead of 5, but that comes with the territory of being a small, independent grocery store. They always have good avocados that are ready to eat.

Amazing products and the deli and smoothie bar is the best! They support local causes and stay open way later than anyone else. Perfect place to get healthy, local food and natural supplies. Support local business and local causes by shopping at Red Barn!

I really expected so much more, considering I dropped $50 on produce here. The stuff I got on the sale shelf actually outlasted the stuff I paid full (and I do mean FULL!) price for! I would test my luck with the Red Apple before I go back to this place.

Awesome neighborhood market. Good selection of products and the prices are very fair and reasonable (and in a lot of cases, lower than other health food stores). There is, also, a quaint little deli/ice cream shop that is good for a quick little snack.

Pretty good food from their small restaurant. The staff was friendly. The grocery prices were comparable to other health food stores, maybe even a bit on the lower end.
