I hate to leave bad reviews. But this was such a bad experience Ill never come back. I ordered a quiche and decaf coffee, which you serve yourself. The quiche was very good. But this is a coffee company so IMO you gotta get THAT right first and foremost. The decaf coffee was absolutely horrible. Maybe this is some odd alternative coffee place or something. But it had this really strong fermented taste I couldnt get over. No amount of additives to the coffee could overcome it. . The additives is the next part that I didnt like. Im diabetic but I like to add sugar-free sweeteners and cream to my coffee. I couldnt find a sugar free sweetener anywhere. They had honey and a bottle that was 99% empty of raw sugar. Im sorry but honey doesnt taste good in coffee IMO and is still no good for a diabetic. Im no huge fan of Starbucks coffee but at least they always have a great selection of 2-3 difference sugar-free sweeteners. . Finally, I prefer cream in coffee but Ive come to realize no coffee shops do real cream anymore. Half and half is still fairly common though. Most places at least offer that, which I can live with. But not here. Its skim milk, apparently. Might as well be water because it didnt help at all. . So I ended up with a large cup horrible fermented tasting coffee with honey and skim milk in it, neither one of which helped drown out the awful fermented taste of the coffee. I literally has two sips and trashed the entire cup. . Honestly worst coffee experience Ive ever had. Id never be back. Yuck!

Great place, nice ambience, good coffee. I like it a lot. But its not perfect - unforunately; it could be... First, the food is all sugar. There is no protein choice, no vegan muffins... its kind of fake to have such a cool place yet not have healthier food. Secondly, the toilets suck. The Amberbook location can barely flush. And none of the locations have a toilet cover, like every other toilet in the public world has - I am talking about those wax-paper things that cover the whole seat. Some people are sensitive about such things. Just because the owners re not, does not mean that all others are not. I actually thought they were required by the health code. The Baseline location has a bucket under the sink of the mens room. That is clearly not sanitary and does in fact violate codes. is it really that hard to fix a sink? I see a plunger there - you have a plug? You dont have to remove the pipes; plunger is not the right way. Home Depot sells a flexible lastic rod with little barbs on it, in the plumbing department, just for this purpose: it is used to clean out those sink pipes, coming from above. Very easy! A coffee shop serves a very diverse population - lets respect that Get better food, and a clean toilet experience. THANKS!

I frequent this place on the weekends because its a nice walk to it from my place. I like that they have chairs outside so I can bring my dog and enjoy my coffee and food while we people watch. Actually most times I feel like people are watching us since most of the customer are nice and often stop to chat about my dog, but I digress... They have a good variety of drinks so youre not stuck with just coffee. They even have fruit drinks and Mexican hot chocolate. If youre feeling indulgent, get the cinnamon roll. They are the largest Ive ever seen, although can taste like sugared cardboard. My favorite is the bacon bagel. Its delicious and the scones are good too. #GoogleCityExpert #PDXCityExperts

Absolutely love this place. I think its the best coffee place in the area. I originally came here because I love a matcha green tea latte. Unless I go to Portland...its impossible to get this drink in this area. The other drinks here are amazing as well. Ive almost kept going every day here. So Ive tried most drinks. They are all amazing and not super sweet. Which I love. I cant stand super sweet drinks. So the sweetness to all the flavoured drinks are perfect. The staff there is super nice and chill. The atmosphere is amazing. I love the decorations and the feel of the place. Oh and the food(bagels) are quite good. As long as I live in this area Ill probably keep going here :)

I really want to 5 star this place, but there are logistical problems that could be easily fixed to make it so. Spread out the location of the coffee bar, the condiment, silverware, bus tub bar from the food line. Everything jams up when it gets busy and resembles a shark frenzy when navigating through the store. Make the menu more prevalent, having to make a food choice the minute you get to the cashier for the order causes unnecessary delays. When serving warm cinnamon rolls, dont serve the associated latte 10 minutes later. Otherwise the food and coffee was very good and will return. Not much else as an alternative.

I fell in love with Sleepy Monk on a foggy weekend trip to Cannon and now I coincidentally stumbled upon it at Insomnia! Score! I have only been a few times but the people have always been laid back and nice, very knowledgeable and they pull a very decent shot. Never burned, they really know whats up with foam too, even soy which can be tough. Forget you "Par-Bucks"... :-) Insomnia is my choice. Keep up the great ambiance guys. Sometimes choosing a new coffee haven can be a daunting task but you guys made me feel Ive been coming here for years. Right on! Thanks for keepin it real! (Real good! :-)

I first encountered Insomnia at their Noble Woods location, and I am a little partial to that location because of the overall "coffee shop" environment. However, their Cornell location shares the same refreshingly friendly staff, the same dedication to quality, and the same delicious treats. The only difference is the vibe - due to the location, its a little more industrial instead of intimate. The Cornell location has fantastic outdoor seating though. Recommendations: the Aztec Mocha, the espresso chocolate cookie, the quiche, and their "guns and gold" roast drip coffee.

This is my favorite coffeeshop across all of Portland -- and Ive been to many! The staff is very knowledgeable about coffee, warm and caring to their customers, and super good at making consistently outstanding coffee drinks. They even offer a gluten free coffee cake that is pretty darn good! The vibe here is comfy yet eclectic. They feature the artwork of local artists and the art installations change monthly. I go here when Im lonely and I always meet interesting people to chat with. I just love Insomnia Coffee!

11/19/2011 You know I am not sure I have ever met a friendlier staff at a coffee place yet in Beaverton. Starbucks has great customer service, but Insomnia has FABULOUS customer service and coffee. Reasonably priced, ecstatically friendly, happy to see you, great product, fun atmosphere, and an easy to find location. I like this place and am sad that I now live in Gresham. I will visit when I am over on the west side of town.

Favorite stomping ground for coffee for the wife. She could only find their sleepy monk coffee at the coast for a long time. Now she can get it locally and I dont drink it myself but its supposed to be amazing. She also has a french press and says this is even better that way as well. Other than that its a very nice albeit standard coffee shop. I would rate it a 4 but since it makes the wife so super happy they a get a 5.
