I left my old phone with them to be recycled; 3 months later I get a call from someone who has my old phone, saying his friend who works at the AT&T store gave it to him. The device was still logged in to all my accounts and had not been wiped. Be sure to wipe your own data yourself before leaving an old device with these people.
