Will not be returning. Called to ask about adjusting brakes on a mountain bike i had purchased online and assembled myself (I could not get the brand i wanted in ANY Dayton bike shop). And if a front fork on another mountain bike I already had (a GT) would be fixable. While on the phone with Jeff (Centerville location) he seemed relatively friendly (although his tone made it obvious he really did not want to work on a bike they did not happen to sell--and here ill also say that the manufacture of the bike I purchased lists K and G Bike Center as a licensed dealer of theirs--Schwinn Select) Jeff said he would need to take a look at the fork on the GT (understandably--also I had called about a week before asking about the fork but had not made it down. I called them the second time to be sure they were the same shop i had spoken to before). He said the fee for the hydraulic brake adjustment would be about $15 and take a couple of days. This was last Tuesday March 15th 2016. I then drive immediately over to them (i live on the west side of Dayton) which took about 30-35 mins. Once I get there and take the bikes into the shop an associate (not Jeff) started to get my info to enter it into the computer system. Meanwhile Jeff walks over, briefly (fraction of a second type of time frame) glances at the GT fork and says "Ya, i cant do anything with that. Its an entry level fork with parts that would cost more to rebuild than replace" (Again, i totally understand this and had no problem with this aside from his abrasive tone) I asked if they could get me some actual prices of what it would cost to replace when I pick up my other bike (the Schwinn Select) in a few days. He said they would do that (but didnt). He then asks about what I want done on the Schwinn. I said I want to be sure the brakes need adjusted and then for them to adjust them. Also, if they could give it a once over just to be sure I had assembled everything correctly with the proper about of torque. I said I would not mind paying for a "tune up" (quoted about $65 if I am remembering correctly) if that is what it needs. Jeff then squeezed the front brake handle and pronounced it acceptable. Then moved to the rear brake handle, squeezed it, and said it was a bit soft and could use adjustment. I then asked him to feel the steering of the handlebars to see if it was the correct level of tightness. He said it felt a bit to tight. I then said id like them to adjust that as well. I thanked him and he walked away. The original associate then started to enter my info into the computer. Once he was finished he said it would be about a week (not what i was originally told, but i get overshooting your expected finish date so you may be able to call the customer earlier than quoted- i assumed this was what was happening at the time). I thank him and left. Fast forward 6 days. I have not heard from the bike shop yet so I decide to call to see if it will be ready the next day for me to pick up. The associate who answers the phone (different from who entered my information) says its already ready (i got no call). I tell them ill be in shortly to get it. When I pick up the bike, the man who answered the phone is who gets it for me. But I notice that Jeff has made eye contact with me a couple of times and didnt even say hi or even give a nod (not taking it personally, but it did seemed a bit odd) I asked the associate ringing me up if a specific pair of pedal toe straps will fit my bike. He checks and says they will. I pay for my brake adjustment (no "tune up" fee) and get a bottle cage and the toe straps and leave. Upon getting the bike home i discover the straps wont work on the pedals on my bike (the very same pedals that their associate just finished saying WOULD work), the handle bars still seem to be the exact level of tightness when they turn AND the rear brakes are still just as soft as before AND my receipt shows they entered my address AND phone number incorrectly. I believe they simply held my bike for a week with out working on it. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

For Christmas, my father-in-law asked for new padded bike shorts. He has had lots of issues with discomfort because of his bike seat and has tested out numerous seats over the years. We arrived at the Kettering location and spoke with Aaron about the different products available. After explaining the issues my father-in-law has been having, we decided to come back the next day with his bike so we could not only find the best pair of shorts for the seat, but also allow Aaron to check the bike configuration so he could adjust the handle bars and seat in hopes of alleviating the pressure issues. In short, the service Aaron and the K&G team was nothing short of outstanding. Rather than just showing us where the shorts were and letting us be on our way, Aaron took the time to listen to the issues and think about the ways the issue could be resolved and not just new ways of dealing with it. As my father-in-law told me after we left, "This is the first time someone truly listened and thought of ways to fix the problem. Everyone else Ive talked to just tried to figure out ways for me to live with it." I cant thank Aaron and the K&G staff enough. Absolutely outstanding experience. Well be sure to be back.

Thinking that tires on my restored 1988 Cannondale were in need of replacement. Also wondering if my rims would accommodate 27 x 1 1/4 tires as a replacement for the 27 x 1 1/8 which were original equipment size. Walked in and was promptly greeted by friendly and helpful employee. Asked my questions and got courteous, knowledgeable answers. I had done some research on tires and had gone to K & G because they actually had several 27s in stock. Recommendation was for the most expensive option (which I had been seriously considering). However, was offered 4 options - brought them to me so I could compare. Discusses pros and cons of each. I ended up choosing the 2nd most expensive and am pleased with my choice. Offered some helpful tips on installing tubes and tires (if it had been awhile...). I am delighted that I chose to do business with K & G and will definitely return. Pleased with what they had in stock, the professionalism, courtesy and friendliness of staff. Nice!

I visited this store after having a horrible experience at another bike shop only miles away. K&G turned my evening around. All of the employees happily greeted me and my daughter even though we walked in about 7 minutes before closing. One came over to help us out and was able to enthusiastically answer all of my questions. He then proceeded to show me two options for bikes for my daughter. He gave me the specs of each bike and how they compare to each other. He interacted with my daughter, asking her what she wants and how she likes to ride. He was knowledgeable about her age, size and fit for the bike. She thought he was "so nice". He offered to get the bikes down and let her try them in the parking lot (store doesnt have space to ride inside and weather was great). I will be returning to the store to purchase the bike my daughter has decided on and then will frequent this store exclusively. Thanks!
