The absolute WORST home depot I have ever dealt with. I have lived in Westbury for almost 20 years going to the Raceway Home Depot , but my husband and I purchased a home in East Meadow about a year ago close to this location. We completely gutted our home and decided for one of our final items we would order through this location, a simple door with an all glass window and built in blind. Well, first off the door was late to begin with and when I was calling the store to get a hold of someone to help me and give me an answer they only have ONE PERSON who deals with special orders of doors and windows and when he isnt in, there is no one to pick up the slack. Not even the managers are of any help. I then have an pneumonia and in frustration, a door 2 weeks late, I go into the store and raise hell because I cant get any help on the phone and I end up leaving with no resolution. FF to the following weekend. I rent a truck with my husband to pick up the above mentioned door and as we are checking out with it, I notice something is wrong with the blind. I show the store manager and the girl checking us out, but they insist, once the door is installed and standing upright the blind will straighten itself out and they pushed out the store with the defective door. Now I take it home, before installation, my contractor straightens out the blinds and shows me the bend in the blind. I call the store, and guess what, the guy who deals with special orders NOT THERE so I had to wait until Monday. We are now going on a month and a half and I still do not have my replacement door, the store calls my husband and tells him to come and pick up the replacement... WHAT!? Mind you, my best friend also is currently battling this store bc they keep loosing her carpet order AND measurements!! Not once, not twice, BUT THREE TIMES!!! I wanted to file with the BBB, but unfortunately they arent accredited. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS. I HAVE BEEN WAITING ON A CALL FROM THE ONE PERSON WHO HANDLES SPECIAL ORDERS FOR THREE DAYS AND NOTHING SO FAR!!!! I will say they were very quick to give me discounts, but this still does not amount to the money I lost paying contractors for lost time in addition to the amount of time this has taken. Absolutely terrible.

We went there yesterday to purchase a few bundles of concrete shingles, tarpaper, nails and a couple other items. After finding what we were looking for I needed assistance in getting the shingles off of an upper shelf and could not get anyone to help. After approximately half an hour went by I went to the customer service desk to see if they could find someone to help me. At first I was ignored but I waited patiently and when I was finally asked what I was waiting for I explained that I could not get the shingles off of the shelf by myself and I needed help. I was told, rudely, that I would have to find someone who worked that area. I explained that I asked a few people and was told each time that someone who worked that area would have to help me and then to my surprise twof employees at the customer service desk told me the same thing! Very poor attitudes and an obvious indifference to customer needs led me to exit without making a purchase and head to the Westbury store on Corporate Drive where the atmosphere was completely different. Two assistant managers there immediately realized that they did not carry the items I was looking for and quickly ascertained that the East Meadow store was the only location in the area that carried the fiber concrete shingles. After explaining to them what had happened there they immediately called East Meadow and had an assistant manager by the name of Martin locate my products and have them waiting for me at the front of the store. One of the customer service reps still had an attitude problem but I made my purchase anyway and promptly left the store. Its amazing to me that the same company can have such different attitudes and atmospheres at different locations. For now on Ill try shopping around for my home repair needs and go where I know customers are treated decently. I realize the East Meadow location will be closing but I hope the new Levittown location will offer customer service representatives some classes in communicating positively with customers who are spending their hard earned money enabling them to stay employed.

Paint department needs to properly train Jerry how to operate equipment before leaving him by himself. I ordered my paint and Jerry the employee at paint attempted said plain and simple "it cant be done". He told me to wait but did nothing to help my situation only helping the next customer (great customer service Jerry). I asked for a manager and was ignored once again saying hes the only one to talk to. Both statements about the paint and the manager made no sense. I chose to make a polite fuss at customer service for them to get someone who knows what they were doing and it was a struggle. Its bad when home depot employees tell you to go to another home depot for the something in arms reach. Now I have a customer service rep trying to make paint. Hilarious but not really. After an hour or so of nagging and saying that "this is possible find some one who knows", another employee arrived and made it seem a little too easy. Please train Jerry for my future purchases in paint!!! Alot of unnecessary time and frustration into this visit earns one star.

I am a homeowner living in Bellmore. I am between the Copaigue/Farmingdale/Freeport/Westbury/East Meadow stores not even counting the Lowes stores. Anybody within range of those same stores who is taking on plumbing projects knows or should, that Arty in East Meadow is a gem of resource. He has a lifetime of experience, he is all plumber, if there were pic in the dictionary for plumber it would likely be his...a great guy willing to take his time with each and every customer so that I would never go to any other store. You cant help noticing that as youre talking to him, there is a trail of other people waiting their turn to consult with him. Thanks Arty, there have been a number of projects I would likely never have taken on without you. So many of us know that youre the best by far and were lucky to have you right here in little old East Meadow.

I shop at this Home Depot often (1-2x a month) and I am usually impressed at the know-how of their employees. Home Depot doesnt hire regular retail people who just know whats stocked. They hire people who either are contractors or have DIY skills and can tell you what you need to do a certain task, and how to do it. They also have free "how to" workshops, and they have free energy audits. Yes, theyll advertise some of their material, but they will go all through your home and tell you what makes financial sense to fix or replace to save on energy bills. So in addition to their usual selection and low prices, its the people there who make Home Depot a good place to buy home improvement related materials. And Im hard to please!! :)
