I will start off by saying that what led me to finally get a tattoo at Body Designs was the warm and welcoming atmosphere that the owner and staff of the shop created. The shop itself is really clean and always well staffed.I always wanted a tattoo but the whole process really freaked me out. I literally had an idea of what I wanted to have done for three years before I finally was brave enough to do it. Visiting the shop and watching other people get pieces done put me at ease. When I finally took the plunge and got my first tattoo the entire staff bent over backwards to make me feel welcomed. I walked in with a vague idea of the piece I wanted. Tara took the time to work with me to bring my idea life. The rest of the staff was reassuring as I prepared to get a sizable tattoo put on a sensitive area of my foot. No one laughed as rattled off some of my concerns, they gave me clear answers to my questions, and made the entire experience enjoyable. The tattoo came out absolutely beautiful. I got it done 5 years ago and I still get compliments on how beautiful it is. The shop has helped me to maintain the look of my tattoo by touching it up every few years so it always looks fantastic. I have witnessed some really cool designs come out of Mike Fenns shop and I am excited to get more work done here. When someone tells me they like my tattoo, I make sure to mention where I got it done. What really impresses me about Body Designs is the sense of community the staff provides for their clients. Ive never seen anyone walk in the door and get ignored. When working with their clients, the staff always seems interested and enthusiastic about the work they are doing. Body Designs appreciates every customer who stops in to get a tattoo or a piercing. Besides employing a staff of highly trained and talented artists, Body Designs makes a point to give back to the community.A few years ago Body Designs got involved in "Tattoos For Cancer" an amazing event that raises money for cancer research. I am so glad that I got my tattoo at Body Designs. The staff helped a very anxious client to feel right at home. I continue to get compliments on my tattoo several years after I had it done. There is honestly no one else that I would trust to tattoo me than the staff of Body Designs. So check them out!

The good news is some quality tattoo work does come out of their studio but overall it’s on par with other local studios, personally I’d rather spend my money to support someone who respects the department of health, and other artists who are doing good work. The Owner (Michel Fenn) is very well known locally as being arrogant, hate filled, and rarely at the studio, he prefers to attempt to degrade the competition as if they shouldn’t even be considered. He bought one of the oldest studios on Long Island (open since the 60’s) and ran it out of business, then he sent insulting letters to at least some local artists then blocked them from replying- he also has a criminal record for (as he claims) “stupid $h:~”. I believe that the one positive review here was written by the owner if only because it’s too over the top, and other local studios have portfolios and health inspection reviews that are comparable to the level of tattooing that comes out of Body designs. As further evidence of the owners confused mental state he chose to list his business under “cancer research” and “tattoo expo.” although his studio offers neither, and he forgot to list it under “tattoo studios”, which is another obvious oversight. Amazingly his studio refuses all mail delivery, and his personal contact information is unlisted which tends to keep him out of the loop as to what is going on in the industry. When approached about coordinating with other local studios to fight proposed bans on body piercing (and tattooing) his reply was (in part, curses removed) “I take you to be an obnoxious, self-centered, egotistical, evasive, unprofessional moron.” and that placed him in a league of his own as compared to other studios that chose solidarity and put up money to get a lawyer to fight bad legislation; Mr. Fenn defended his (self proclaimed) brilliance in writing by claiming that he was there from the beginning to the end, but public records show that he was there only in the middle, certainly not the beginning, and not the end; also noted is the fact that at the public hearing his wife spoke on his behalf, and clearly stated that he wasn’t there.

Got a Prince Albert genital piercing from Jessica. Came home and noticed it was obviously crooked to the right and was improperly pierced way down than it should. It should have been placed higher. (I looked at comparison photos of many other prince Albert piercings.) Have taken out the piercing immediately so this type of poorly done piercing closes up and doesnt become permanent, especially not in a place such as the genitals. I looked at it again with the piercing removed and it so clear that the piercing was done crooked by the piercing point. Honestly really poor work. I was going to get a dydoe as well but she messed up and admitted it when she attempted to pierce. Couldnt seem to secure the clamp on the spot on more tries. I dont know but my gut reaction from that told me right there not to get that piercing done at all, at least not from that person. I was charged $15 for one barbell for the dydoe piercing since she said she opened. Which I dont think is fair. I noticed she didnt at all spot mark the entry and exit points of the piercings. In my experience from other parlors they always spot mark. Instead, she just drew lines instead of spot marking the entry and exit points as well. Didnt disinfectant well before piercing compared to other piercing parlors and didnt disinfectant at all after piercing. I have 3 other body piercings from two different places who did all the above. Was hoping to get the piercing done from Mike who says he has 30 years of experience. I dont know anymore, I think Ill pass after this experience from this place. Not impressed at all, Ive gotten much better piercing work on my nipples from another place. Hate to write a poor review but honestly the poor work deserved it, sorry.

When I got my very first tattoo (out of three) I was very nervous and very scared. My friend who had also just gotten a tattoo recommended Body Designs and said that if I wanted to get a quality tattoo, this was the place to go. The place was clean, neat, and inviting. All of the equipment was sterile and in prisitine condition. There were benches to sit on and magazines to read. Music played in softly in the background. For somebody completely new to this "world", I was able to relax and breathe a sigh of relief. While I am certain that Body Designs has an "all around" incredible staff, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Tara, an incredibly talented tattoo artist who has only just begun to show us her amazing abilities. I viewed her portfolio prior to meeting her and knew that she was the only person who could do this tattoo for me. After several consultations prior to getting the artwork, I felt ready and confident, even as nervous as I was. From day one, Tara was very kind and put all of my fears to rest. She answered my questions and patted me on the back, assuring me that everything was going to be fine. Tara was professional and meticulous in her work and gave me my most beautiful tattoo: my sunflower. I have since gone back to get my other two tats from Body Designs. Almost four years later, I still get compliments on what an amazing job she did, and where did I get such a beautiful piece done? I am telling you now, just as as I tell all of my friends...Body Designs is the place to go for your tattoo. It is comfortable, clean, and staffed by the finest tattoo artists you will ever meet. What more can you ask for?
