I moved to Bay Shore from Brooklyn about 2 years ago and first went to this PepBoys for a synthetic oil change, since they had coupons bringing the price to $50. The attendant was very nice (the chubby one with a mustache), took all my information down, made small talk, recommended the fuel additive for $10, said it should be done with every oil change. They checked my cars air filter, brakes and shocks and I was out in half an hour. I went back a week later with my van for the same service and again, the chubby one was nice, but did recommend that I change my struts as they were worn. For both cars, he said they would call me with a reminder for my next oil change, I never received any calls. On my subsequent oil change, I again let them put in the fuel additive for $10 (even though it looked like some cheap brand that cost $2); they took out my air filter and showed me that it was all black and said theyll put in a new one for $20 with no charge for labor. I agreed, even though the filter costs $12 on sale and my 6 yr old can snap it in place. He also asked me if I wanted to get the struts changed and upon hearing the price I declined and told him I cant afford it at the time. During my oil changes after that, I started noticing that every time I went there, they would show me a dirty air filter and pitch the same $20 line. I dont understand how the filter can go bad every 6 months with only 8k miles on the car. Its recommended that the filters be cleaned every 10-12k miles and replaced between 20-30k miles. They dont even give you the option to clean it out or do it as a free service. Last time I went, I declined the air filter and fuel additive because I had no intention of returning to this place. I was even more disgusted because the scrawny looking guy with the glasses was there and I thought maybe he was honest, turns out hes just like his counterpart; he also tried to upsell me the dirty air filter bit, after just 6 months. Im not making any accusations, but it appears that these guys are totally NOT legit. I believe that once they get you in, they manipulate you so you feel your car is in need of repair or not safe so you end up spending hundreds of dollars. They need to make tons of money because they have franchise fees that need to get paid and many layers of management that need to get paid; and of course thats not gonna happen with a $50 oil change. Growing up in Brooklyn, I learned a thing or two about cars and repair costs; I just feel bad for the people of Long Island that are naive and believe what these fools tell them. I think Ill stick to the small mom & pop repair shops that I was used to going to in Brooklyn, theyre not as big as ripoffs as PepBoys. I would NOT recommend this place to any one.

i recently moved to brentwood from brooklyn. I needed some work done on my car so I seen PepBoys was close to me. I walked in the store and right away I was greeted like Ive been going there for years. Pedro the store manger had no problem taking my car in and placed it on the lift and gave it a walk thru. Pedro stated I would have to put a lot of money in to keep the car running right boy was Pedro right. The car means alot to me. Its really hard to trust people with your car. Pedro built that trust with me and is a real straight up person. He never trys to up sale or lie about a problem with your car. Once the first day I brought my car to Pedro I never thought twice to bring it to another company. Ive been going to Perdo for over a year now and will continue to bring my car and future cars to this store only if Pedro is there. I recommend with service store to anyone that wants a good experience. This company should be happy to have a employee like pedro working for them.

Tuesday Morning the snow was coming down . My wiper blades had popped off and i was unable to see , I came into this pep boys on the corner or fifth ave and pin aire drive and the Day worker Perdo said how they was broken and he could not place them back on . Off in the snow almost in a accident unable to see . Went To My Pep boys on Sunrise hwy bayshore .Pedro >>>>>>>>needs to be fired . For not doing his job and not caring to do his job ! Hector was there and quite busy . Found some time placed them back on and filled my tire with air .

I would not recommend this place to anyone! Besides the fact that only one person does everything, the experience is unpleasant and stupid. Why would an oil change have to take 1 hour?! Mechanic/receptionist/Service Manager was on his cell phone several times while doing the oil change on my car. I will never go back to this place again. Thanks "Eddie" for the worst customer service I have ever had.

I came here for a flat tire and was able to get it fixed. i did have to leave my car overnight as they did not have my tire in stock which was an inconvenience. the prices were decent, but there was a lack of mechanics during the time. other then that, my car tires were fixed and in great condition.

Came to check breaks, they told me that i have to replace everything 500 bucks for the rear breaks, yesterday i went to another place they charged me 100 bucks, i was a regular for oil change im never coming back
